It just might be the "Burg Way" after all.
Armed with a cooperative sports agreement between Ridgway and host school Johnsonburg, the Ramettes on Tuesday scored a 2-1 win over visiting Elk County Catholic in a softball game held at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School in Ridgway.
Starting pitcher Alexa Marciniak scattered one hit and an unearned run in five innings of work for the Ramettes before giving way to relief pitcher Taylor Roseto who secured the win with two scoreless innings.
Missed opportunities were becoming the norm as St. Marys Area and Ridgway continued to pile up zeroes on the linescore Tuesday afternoon.
St. Marys broke that trend in the ninth, broke the scoreless tie and came away with the victory.
A Shane Haberberger one-out single brought home RJ Johnston to give the Dutch the only run of the game in a 1-0, nine-inning victory over Ridgway Tuesday afternoon at Sandy Beach Recreational Park.
JOHNSONBURG – The Rams quickly settled down after early gaffes Monday in time to watch a masterful Cole Peterson strike out 15 batters en route to a 6-2 complete game win over visiting Eisenhower.
After a few errors marred the opening inning, and put the Rams in a 2-0 hole, Peterson settled down while his teammates lit up mound opponent Shane Arford for six runs for a 6-2 win.
Ridgway looked to have a prime chance to tie or take the lead, loading the bases with no one out.
DuBois Central Catholic Phil Myers made sure it wasn't such a prime opportunity.
Myers kept the Elkers off the board in the bottom of the sixth and DCC added an insurance run in the seventh inning for a 3-1 victory over Ridgway Monday afternoon at Sandy Beach Recreational Park in the Elkers' home opener.
