JOHNSONBURG â€“ One run proved to be the difference.
A Caleb Bennett single in the seventh inning would plate Alexx Tyger and be enough for Fox Township to take a 1-0 victory over Wilcox Friday at Knothole Area Recreational Park.
Fox Township now moves to the Elk County American Legion League finals which begin on Tuesday against the last team out of the loser's bracket.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Wilcox opened the Elk County American Baseball League playoffs with a 10-3 win over Port Allegany Tuesday night at Knothole Park in Johnsonburg in winner's bracket action in the double-elimination tournament.
Wilcox was off to a fast start adding a run in the first and six runs in the second inning to burst out to a quick 7-0 lead.
The St. Marys Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with the Wilcox Legion Saturday night at Berwind Park.
St. Marys won the first game by a 5-2 margin with Wilcox taking a lightning-shortened second game by a 9-1 score.
In the first game, St. Marys had 10 hits led by Dan Singer's four singles. Jack Herzing doubled while Ivan Wortman had two singles. Vince Jacob, Ben Cortina and Ben Reuscher all singled.
Quinn Luhr led Wilcox with a double and a single while Mitchell Holmberg, Ben MacDonald, Taylor Feronti and Austin Amacher all singled.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ The Johnsonburg major league all-stars won 6-2 over Kane Friday night at Knothole Area Recreational Park in District 10 tournament play.
Johnsonburg led throughout much of the game, scoring two runs in the first and three runs in the third.
WILCOX â€“ The Wilcox American Legion baseball swept a doubleheader with Bradford on a sweltering Sunday afternoon at Jones Township Community Park.
Wilcox won the first game 7-0 and then took the nightcap 8-1 over Bradford to take all three games from the Bradford Legion in the season series.
WILCOX â€“ Another big first inning, another Wilcox victory.
Wilcox scored six runs in the opening frame to take control of the game en route to a 12-0 win over Fox Township Friday night at Jones Township Community Park.
The 6-run first inning Friday comes off a 9-run first inning against Bradford Wednesday night.

UNIVERSITY PARK â€“ Johnsonburg senior second baseman Quinn Luhr summed up the emotions of the Rams after winning the Class A baseball championship game and having gold medals placed around their necks.
"It's a lot better than a silver," Luhr said.
It was certainly a golden day for Johnsonburg baseball as the Rams captured the PIAA Class A baseball championship with a 5-0 win over Canton in the title game Friday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â€“ It was an extra special winning moment for Quinn Luhr in the PIAA quarterfinal.
After keeping Johnsonburg baseball even with Bishop McCort, Luhr's RBI single in the bottom of the 11th helped the Rams to a 7-6, 11-inning victory over the Crushers Thursday at Rich Kuntz Memorial Field in Punxsutawney.
The win means there will be a new state champion in Class A baseball as Bishop McCort took the title for the 2012 season.
