Ridgway volleyball won 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12) in the home opener for the Lady Elkers against Johnsonburg Thursday night at Ridgway Area High School.

JOHNSONBURG â€“ Ridgway football's inaugural game in Johnsonburg had a big crowd, fireworks and an Elker victory at the end.
Ridgway won 20-8 over Otto-Eldred Friday night at Memorial Field in Johnsonburg in the 2013 season opener.

Josh Roselli of Ridgway was the medalist for the Elkers as he finished with a 35 including an eagle on the par 5 fourth hole. Mitchell Gilmore finished with a 36 and Jake Klawuhn tallied a 38. Mitchell Stark carded a 40 which included a long birdie putt from just inside the fringe on the second hole. T.J. Schlimm finished with a 41 to round out the top five team scores.
Two rivals that have played 108 times have now become one team.

Cathy Winstead-Severin (Joplin, Mo.) was the overall runner-up with a total of 86 and Mark Pharr (Round Rock, Texas) took third with a score of 83.
Enrique Kuess Jr. is leaving Ridgway with a pair of national championships.
The Laredo, Texas native won the national championship in high power standard rifle with a 3-day total of 100 (30-34-36) as the NRA National Silhouette Championships concluded Saturday at the high power range of the Ridgway Rifle Club.
Kuess Jr. also won the smallbore standard rifle national championship held earlier in the week at the Ridgway Rifle Club.
