The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch suffered their first loss of the season in a 7-0 defeat to the Ridgway Lady Elkers at the SMAHS soccer field.
Ridgway put on a strong performance led by Caitlin Viglione, who had four goals in the victory. Jenna DeAngelo, Julie Alford, and Angela DeAngelo each also scored for the Lady Elkers.
Ridgway boys soccer won for the second time in a row as the Elkers defeated Kane 4-1 on a hot Tuesday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader soccer team claimed another Elk County Boys Soccer Tournament title on Saturday afternoon, this year by shutting out the Redbank Valley Bulldogs 3-0.
ECC advanced to the championship match by defeating the Ridgway Elkers 4-1 on Friday afternoon while Redbank had won 3-1 over St. Marys Area.
Just two days after battling in a close match which was won in three sets by ECC, the Lady Crusaders and Lady Dutch volleyball teams were back at it again on Saturday evening, this time facing each other in the championship match of the 17th annual Elk County Volleyball Tournament. ECC was able to win the best-of-three championship match with scores of 25-20 and 25-17 to claim this year's tournament title.
COUDERSPORT â€“ Coudersport broke through the Ridgway defense in the second half and was able to take a 19-6 win over the Elkers Friday night at CARP Park in Coudersport.
Ridgway volleyball won 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12) in the home opener for the Lady Elkers against Johnsonburg Thursday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Ridgway girls soccer won 3-0 over Elk County Catholic in action Thursday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
Ridgway boys soccer lost 5-2 to Port Allegany in the season opener for both teams on a brisk Tuesday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Ridgway football's inaugural game in Johnsonburg had a big crowd, fireworks and an Elker victory at the end.
Ridgway won 20-8 over Otto-Eldred Friday night at Memorial Field in Johnsonburg in the 2013 season opener.
"What an atmosphere," Heindl said. "I can't [acknowledge] the people, the communities of both towns enough. What a show of support for these kids."
Ridgway boys golf remained undefeated on the young season as the Elkers won 190-232 over Johnsonburg Thursday afternoon at Laurel Mill Golf Course.
Josh Roselli of Ridgway was the medalist for the Elkers as he finished with a 35 including an eagle on the par 5 fourth hole. Mitchell Gilmore finished with a 36 and Jake Klawuhn tallied a 38. Mitchell Stark carded a 40 which included a long birdie putt from just inside the fringe on the second hole. T.J. Schlimm finished with a 41 to round out the top five team scores.
