JOHNSONBURG â€“ Members of the Johnsonburg volleyball program, and parents and relatives gathered recently to celebrate the 2013 season and pay tribute to the program's two departing seniors, Chelsea Benson and Emily Dubler.
Ridgway junior high football held a banquet for the team last Monday night at Aiello Cafe in Ridgway.
Junior high football head coach Brian Hinton welcome everyone and acknowledged everyone in attendance for a great season.
"I want to [acknowledge] you for a successful season," Hinton said. "Just a phenomenal start and a phenomenal finish to the season. It was an honor to coach these 46 fine young gentlemen. Weâ€™re sad to see the season come to the end."
The Ridgway soccer teams were honored with a banquet Sunday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
Ridgway girls soccer finished with a 15-2-1 record this season and entered the District 9 playoffs as the No. 2 seed. Ridgway faced Brookville in the first round of the playoffs, a team Lady Elker head coach Greg Maddalena said he had never beaten before. Ridgway won 1-0 in overtime as Caitlin Viglione scored the game-winning goal.
NEW BETHLEHEM â€“ There weren't many defensive stands Friday night but a Redbank Valley stand has the Bulldogs moving on.
A Nick Shoemaker interception in the final minute preserved a 31-26 win over Ridgway Friday night at Redbank Valley High School.

The Elkers finished the season with a 13-0 record and finished the season with multiple championships. Ridgway finished as the AML champions, Elk County champions and District 9 team champions.
Runners from both Elk County Catholic High School and St. Marys Area High School traveled to Hershey on Saturday to take part in the 2013 PIAA State Cross Country Championships at the Parkview Cross Country Course.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team advanced to the PIAA Class A Tournament by taking second place in Saturday's District 9-A Final Four held at the St. Marys Area High School.
Elk Catholic reached the finals of Saturday's tournament by defeating Oswayo Valley in the semifinals 3-0 (25-18, 25-1 and 25-13). In the finals Elk met top seeded Clarion. The Lady Bobcats defeated ECC in three 25-22, 25-16 and 25-20.
Ridgway football has had the motto of "One Team" since the start of this season with the new co-op between Ridgway and Johnsonburg.
Now that one team has clinched one of eight Class A playoff berths.
The Elkers defeated St. Joseph's Catholic Academy 13-0 Friday night at Memorial Field in Ridgway to seal Ridgway's first playoff berth since the 2006 season.
