Ridgway girls soccer used four second-half goals to pull away from St. Marys in a 6-1 win over St. Marys Wednesday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
Ridgway had some good chances in the first 20 minutes but were unable to bury any of them in the back of the net. One of them included a crossing pass from Ridgway right winger Angela DeAngelo to striker Kayli Methaney in the 16th minute. Methaney was able to get a head to the ball and knocked it off the crossbar and out.
ST. MARYS – Elk County Catholic edged Ridgway boys golf, defeating the Elkers via the first tiebreaker in a match held Wednesday afternoon at Bavarian Hills Golf Course.
The two teams tied at 201 strokes with their top five scorers so the match went to the first tiebreaker which would have been the sixth-best team score. Kristy Hanes shot a 44 while Matt Aiello had a 47 which turned out to be the difference between a win and a loss.
Ridgway volleyball lost 3-1 (19-25, 19-25, 25-23, 12-25) to Bradford Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Ridgway was able to push the match to a fourth set with a 25-23 third set victory, the first set the Lady Owls had lost this season in four matches.
