Rams flex pitching muscles in win over Terror

JOHNSONBURG – The Rams used a 1-2 pitching combination of Cole Peterson and Mitchell Holmberg to combine on a 3-hit shutout Friday as Johnsonburg toppled visiting Otto-Eldred, 7-0.
Peterson started the first two innings and scattered one hit and one walk while striking out six batters before leaving with a 1-0 lead. He turned the ball over to Holmberg who pitched three innings of shutout ball with four strikeouts.
Peterson would return to the mound in the sixth inning and scattered another hit in two innings of work but secured the shutout win.

Johnsonburg softball falls to Otto-Eldred

JOHNSONBURG – After taking a 2-0 lead, Johnsonburg softball could not hold off Otto-Eldred as the Lady Terrors won 8-2 over the Ramettes Friday afternoon at Knothole Area Recreational Park.

Crusaders down Dutchmen 4-2 in cross-town match-up

The Elk County Catholic Crusader baseball squad took an early lead and used good defense to pick up a 4-2 victory over cross-town rival St. Marys Area on Friday afternoon at Berwind Park.
"[It was a] tough one to take," said St. Marys Area coach Tony Azzato. "[We gave up] three unearned runs."
Brandon Schlimm started on the mound for the Crusaders, working six innings and giving up three hits, walking three, and striking out eight. Ben Cortina worked the final inning in relief, walking one.

Crusaders hold off Brockway for 6-4 baseball victory

The Elk County Catholic Crusader baseball team held on to defeat the Brockway Rovers by a 6-4 score Thursday afternoon at Berwind Park.
Elk Catholic opened a 4-0 lead after one inning of play before the game was stopped for 30 to 45 minutes for a rain delay. When the game resumed, neither team scored until the top of the fifth, when the Rovers scored a run. Elk answered with two runs in the home half of the fifth to open a 6-1 lead. Brockway was able to score three runs in the top of the sixth to make the score 6-4, where it remained.

Elkers rally for extra inning victory over Elk County Catholic

Two brothers had Ridgway's only two hits which led to Ridgway's only two runs of the game and one victory for the Elker baseball team.
Sam and Josh Roselli had RBI singles in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively as Ridgway was able to secure a 2-1, 8-inning win over Elk County Catholic Wednesday afternoon at Sandy Beach Recreational Park.
"I guess it was a good day for the Roselli family all the way around," Ridgway coach Mark Morelli said.

Johnsonburg tennis wins 7-2

JOHNSONBURG – The Rams turned in a dominating 7-2 win Wednesday afternoon on the tennis courts in Johnsonburg against visiting DuBois Central Catholic, including a 4-for-5 showing in singles action.

Johnsonburg baseball downs Kane in five innings

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg baseball remained undefeated with an 11-1, 5-inning victory over Kane Wednesday at Knothole Area Recreational Park.
Johnsonburg was fueled by an 8-run fourth inning which put the Rams in position for the 10-run rule.

Ramettes hold on for 15-14 win; first of the year

JOHNSONBURG – The Ramettes erased an early deficit Wednesday afternoon against visiting Kane and shook off a late rally for a 15-14 win, their first of the season.
Johnsonburg senior starting pitcher Kiana Myers picked up her first win of the season despite giving up 14 runs in a game dominated by a slew of errors and runs. Kane nearly tied the game in the top of the seventh inning as they put up five runs to cut the lead to 15-14 while putting the tying run on first base with only one out.

Pitching, extra base hits give Rams 3-2 win over Cardinals

JOHNSONBURG – Solid pitching and extra bases were the name of the game Thursday as the Johnsonburg Rams took a 3-2 win over visiting DuBois Central Catholic to extend their opening run to 8-0 on the season.
Sophomore starting pitcher Cole Peterson went the distance for the Rams, scattering two runs on five hits for a complete game victory. Peterson struck out four in the victory and issued only one free pass, an intentional walk in the third inning.

Ridgway baseball falls to Smethport, 5-0

A pair of 2-run innings in the middle of the game proved to be enough for Smethport baseball in a 5-0 victory over Ridgway Thursday afternoon at Sandy Beach Recreational Park.
