Pitching was the order of the day at Sandy Beach.
Johnsonburg had more than enough of it for the victory.
Johnsonburg used a trio of pitchers for a 5-0 Ram win over Ridgway baseball Thursday afternoon at Sandy Beach Recreational Park.
"Cole (Peterson) threw well, Mitchell (Holmberg) came in and threw a nice game, especially in the fourth inning getting out of it. Quinn (Luhr) pitched well," Johnsonburg coach Jeff Peterson said. "Defensively, we played real well again."
Johnsonburg pitching finished with a combined 13 strikeouts of Ridgway hitting.
JOHNSONBURG – A 17-hit outburst Thursday afternoon fueled a 15-10 win over rival Johnsonburg for the Lady Elkers' first win of the 2012 season.

JOHNSONBURG – Despite fielding a small team for the 2012 baseball season, the Johnsonburg Rams have made some noise early with solid pitching and a quick infield, and look to contend in the competitive District 9 scene.
"We knew our numbers were low but the players in the bottom of the lineup are starting to show some life at the plate and they've improved defensively," Johnsonburg head baseball coach Jeff Peterson said. "That's mixing well with the rest of the team. We definitely had a positive outlook at the beginning of the season and we knew we had real good pitching coming back.
Ridgway baseball has turned the page after a 4-win 2011 season.
The Elkers come into this new season with new faces in key positions and just two returning starters.
As the new season has progressed, Ridgway softball is looking to lean on five seniors to help the Lady Elkers improve.
Ridgway’s seniors are Morgan Herzing, Sam Kovalyak, Sydney Kovalyak, Melissa Wehler and Ashley Viglione.
“We’re going to look to those five for senior leadership and step it up from what they did last year because a lot of them were successful last year,” Ridgway coach Gary Gerber II said.
