JOHNSONBURG – After Cole Peterson's 2-hit shutout Monday complete with 14 strikeouts, the Johnsonburg Rams avoided a letdown Wednesday as Mitchell Holmberg and Quinn Luhr combined to 3-hit visiting Brockway in a 12-2 6-inning game.
"It was a good game for pitching and they both threw really well," said Johnsonburg head varsity baseball coach Jeff Peterson. "We threw a lot of strikes and that's what keeps us in the game because our defense is strong, I really like our defense."
Ridgway softball took an early lead but could not hang on in an 11-3 loss to Curwensville.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader baseball team never gave up on Wednesday afternoon during a tough game against the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals in a contest that was originally scheduled to be played in DuBois, but was then moved to Berwind Park in St. Marys. Down 12-10 headed into the bottom of the seventh, the Crusaders rallied to come back from a 13-12 victory, with the winning run driven in on a walk-off single by Joe McLaughlin.
