ST. MARYS â€“ The Johnsonburg Rams picked up a 7-0 shutout victory over the Elk County Catholic Crusaders at Berwind Park on Monday afternoon. Cole Peterson went the distance for the Rams, giving up just two hits while striking out 14.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Taylor Schlimm gave up only one hit Monday afternoon as Elk County Catholic won a 20-0 3-inning shutout over host Johnsonburg.
ECC erupted for 18 runs in a marathon second inning while Schlimm systematically shut down the Ramettes in the 1-hit win. She struck out six batters en route to the shutout.
The visiting Lady Crusaders opened up with a run in the first inning but broke the game open with an 18-run second inning.
Ridgway softball lost 13-0 in five innings to Brockway Monday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
Errors hurt the Lady Elkers in the first inning as Ridgway couldn't get the third out after retiring the first two Brockway hitters in order. Ann Moyer reached on an error as did Savannah Brosky. Brosky's error would score Moyer for the game's first run. Brooke Carlson then launched a 2-run home run to left field for a 3-0 lead for Brockway after one inning.
