Ridgway wrestling lost 60-3 to Port Allegany in the Elkers' home opener Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
"Port Allegany's a great team," Ridgway coach David Fordoski said. "They have a lot of upperclassmen and they wrestled like that. They have a lot of mat experience. A lot of our kids are just starting to get their experience. They were able in a lot of the matches to get that extra takedown or the extra thing right at the end in the win. It's disheartening sitting on this side, seeing it happen but it's part of the learning process."
JOHNSONBURG – A slew of Brockway underclassmen came up big Tuesday night as the visiting Rovers earned a 58-16 win over the Rams on the wrestling mat in Johnsonburg.
The Rovers got six wins by underclassmen, three by freshmen and another three by sophomores, and took advantage of four wins by forfeit for the runaway victory.
