The Ridgway Minor League All-Stars opened play with a 6-5 victory over the Bradford Americans Sunday afternoon at the Ridgway Little League fields along Grant Road.
Ridgway had built a 5-1 lead entering the fifth inning before a 4-run Bradford rally tied the game in the fifth. The game remained tied until the home half of the sixth and final inning. After a flyout, Daunte Allegretto singled and moved to second on a groundout. He would move to third on a passed ball and then scored the winning run on a wild pitch to give Ridgway the 1-run win.
WILCOX – Fox Township and Wilcox could have played deep into the night Saturday but instead settled for an 11-11 tie after the game was halted due to darkness after seven innings of play.
The game featured six lead changes before Wilcox knotted the game at 11-11 in the bottom of the seventh inning. On top of the back-and-forth contest, the clouds parted for rain throughout the game and drenched the field prior to the start.
