SHARON – Ridgway senior D.J. Skraba reached the 100-win mark at the Northwest Regional Championships last weekend at Sharon High School.
Skraba came into the tournament at 99 wins but lost in the quarterfinals. He then took his 100th win in the first round of consolations with a 4-0 decision over Josh Lewis of Youngsville.
“I would have rather gotten it in the first match, then I came back and won the next two,” Skraba said.
SHARON – Ridgway junior Corey Bush captured both his 100th win and a second trip to the PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships with his third-place finish at 119 pounds.
Bush won 18-2 in a technical fall over Nick Hart of Cambridge Springs to reach his 100th win, then he capped off the weekend with a win in the third-place bout to move on to states.
Bush hoped he would have had the win in the semifinals but is happy to move on. Bush won a regional championship at 103 pounds last year.
SHARON – Johnsonburg senior Jesse Wolfe has gotten over the hump again.
After winning his first district title, Wolfe finished third at 125 pounds to advance to the PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships.
He won 1-0 over Nate Stidham of Hickory in the third-place match to qualify.
“It’s an awesome feeling,” Wolfe said. “Just like last week, it was either be a 3-time runner-up or be a champion. This week, be a 3-time fourth-place finisher for states. I just stepped it up both weeks. Now I’m going on to states, it feels real good.”

JOHNSONBURG – The season of accomplishments keeps rolling for Johnsonburg senior Jesse Wolfe.
First was his 100th win, then his first district title. Now a first trip to Hershey could be within his grasp by Saturday’s end.
Jesse Wolfe joined the 100-win club in the final bout of a 5-0 performance at the Coudersport Duals on Jan. 8. He then followed up with his first district title last Saturday at 125 pounds, a 3-0 decision over Mike Bauer of Clarion. It was Wolfe’s second win over Bauer this season.
