David J. Hanlin, age 75, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday June 21, 2011 at â€śEagles Nest,â€ť his acreage of timber and wetlands in Corry. He was pursuing his passion of habitat enhancement to aid wildlife.
Elsie L. Rogers, age 82, of 420 Lookout Ave., Ridgway, died Friday morning at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 28, 1928 in Franklin, daughter of the late Carl M. and Elizabeth (Bennett) Henderson. She married Vernon E. Rogers on Jan. 10, 1952, he survives. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was a past volunteer at Elk County General Hospital Thrift Shop, loved to play cards, go camping with her family, fish and play the slot machines.
She was a graduate of the Franklin High School.
David S. Lowdermilk, age 75, of 111 Filmore Ave., Ridgway died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at his residence.
Jenny (Lind) DeLong, 70, of Woodland Avenue, Johnsonburg, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at home after a short illness.
She was born Dec. 24, 1940 in Titusville, daughter of the late Edward and Amy (Davidson) Lind.
On Aug. 27, 1960, she married Richard â€śDickâ€ť DeLong, who survives.
She was born and raised in Titusville and lived in Johnsonburg since 1964. She was a graduate of Titusville High School, attended Clarion University and spent one year traveling in Denmark learning from her family there.
Jeannine G. Prindle, 81, of 212 Alpine Street, Ridgway, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at her residence.
She was born June 29, 1929, in Woodland, the daughter of the late Clifton and Elsie Wilson Mitchell.
In 1962, she married Joseph E. Prindle, who predeceased her on June 10, 2011.
She had been a lifelong Ridgway resident and had been employed as a telephone operator for Alltel, retiring in 1984.
She is survived by a brother, James Mitchell of Zionsville, Ind. (formerly of Clearfield); and by two nieces, Debra Kline and Diane Bakaysa.
Clarence R. â€śCalâ€ť Dush, 87, of 5225 Grant Road, Ridgway, died Sunday, June 19, 2011. He was born October 4, 1923, in Ridgway, the son of the late George R. and Ida E. Dallenbach Dush. On June 15, 1946, he married his wife of 65 years, June N. Fassette, who survives.
Mildred L. (Millie) Koval, age 84, of 2886 Rt. 219, Brockway, died June 20, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 28, 1927, daughter of David and Katherine Gustafson Moberg. She married Richard "Dick" Koval, she predeceased her July 15, 2010.
She was a retired packer at Brockway Glass Co. and was a member of St. Tobias Church in Brockway. She collected cow knickknacks and enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Otto A. Shippling, 84, of Woodland Avenue, Johnsonburg, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center of Erie after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 9, 1926 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Adolph and Luise (Granitza) Shippling.
On July 2, 1949, he married Louise (Johnson), who survives.
He lived all his life in Johnsonburg and was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater, American Theater and on board the USS Amsterdam during WWII.
James J. Curci, 83, of West Seneca, N.Y., died at Mercy Hospital on June 11, 2011.
He was born July 22, 1927, in Ridgway, the son of the late Harry and Susan Minilli Curci.
He married Gerda A. Oechsle, who survives.
He was the proud owner of the Queen City Dental Lab for 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a veteran of WWII.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Harry Curci of Sutton, Mass. and Anthony Curci of Phoneix, Ariz.; and by a sister, Theresa Marroni of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys.
Gerald â€śJerryâ€ť Northrop, age 74, of Rasselas Road, Rasselas, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at UPMC Presbyterian of Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 27, 1937 in Girard, son of Arnold and Gertrude (Sample) Northrop, both deceased.
He married Janice (Fitch) on Feb 8, 1958 and she survives.
