John A. Yando, age 85, of Route 219, Brockport, died Sept. 14, 2011 at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 4, 1926 in Ridgway, son of Peter and Mary Stowick Yando.
He married Helen Fischer, she preceded her in death on May 2, 1988.
John was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and was a member of Holy Cross Church at Brandy Camp. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He was retired but had been employed by several local coal companies including Doane and Tamburlin Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator.
Nellie A. Grieco, 100, of Packer Street, Williamsport, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the Williamsport Home.
The first child of the late Carmen and Ralphela Capello Caruso, she was born Aug. 24, 1911 in Lock Haven.
She was the wife of Charles P. Grieco St. who preceded her on May 27, 1994. They were married in St. Agnes Church in Lock Haven on Oct. 26, 1935, and celebrated 58 years of marriage.
She attended Lock Haven schools and was employed as a bookkeeper before retiring to raise her family.
Charles Edward King, age 67, a resident of Elgin, South Carolina, died Sept. 8, 2011, Columbia, South Carolina following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 7, 1943, in DuBois, son of Robert E. and Betty J. Steinbach King
On Aug. 15, 1963, he married Sylvia Kay Hicks. She preceded him in death.
Occupation: Charles was a 1962 graduate of Brockway High School.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving from September of 1962 until August of 1966. He retired from Owens-Brockway Glass where he worked in repair and construction services.
William E. "Bill" Lyle, age 73, of McCain Street in Brockway, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center
He was born May 5, 1938, in Brockway, son of Mary Katherine Lyle.
On July 17, 1960, he married Caroline Caggiano, she survives.
He was a member at St. Tobias in Brockway, and a member of the S.O.I. Club and the Sportsmens Club, both in Brockway.
Bill enjoyed racing on every level, from the local ranks all the way up through NASCAR. He also enjoyed playing cards and fishing.
Verne Cuthbert Bixby, 89, peacefully entered on to eternal life on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at her home in Wallingford.Â She was the wife of Jack W. Bixby with who she celebrated her 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17, 2011.
Born in Philadelphia on April 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late W. Earl and Verna Bressler Cuthbert. Verne was a 1940 graduate of Ridgway High School and a 1945 graduate of Clarion University.Â
Kenneth L. Bedford, 91, of Old Portage Road, Emporium, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home of St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 16, 1920 in Driftwood, a son of the late Percy H. and Matilda "May" Bedford.
He was raised in Johnsonburg, but lived most of his life in New York and came back to Pennsylvania in 2008.
William Harold Covert Jr., 82, of 302 Vernon Ave., Ridgway, died Friday, September 9, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 22, 1929, in East Smethport, the son of the late William H. and Catherine Marie Oviatt Covert Sr. On April 5, 1991, he married Laura Mae Dickinson, who survives.
Betty E. Frank, 76, of 675 Montmorenci Ave., Ridgway, and formerly of 231 Spruce St., died peacefully Monday morning, Sept. 5, 2011, at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
She was born July 18, 1935, in Ridgway, daughter of the late James A. and Twelda E. (Gulnac) Richards. She was married to Edmund J. Frank, who preceded her in death in 2001.
Edith F. Mrofchinski, 90, of 403 Valley View Ave., and formerly of 102 Evergreen Dr., Ridgway, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, August 30, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born June 4, 1921 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Jefferson P. and Emma (Dallenbach) Oertly.
She married Andy (Ezoc) Mrofchinski on Feb. 14, 1941. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1997.
Ariannah Nicole Nero Rairdan, of 602 Washington St., St. Marys, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital following a three-month premature delivery.
She was born Aug. 17, 2011 at DuBois Regional Medical Center, daughter of Patrick John Rairdan and Kayla Michelle Nero.
She struggled to survive for eight days, and for those eight days she was survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and paternal and maternal grandparents and great -grandparents, as well as friends of both families.
