Ruby Gibbs, 95, passed away in the afternoon of Wednesday, May 2 at Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, N.Y.
Ruby was born March 14, 1917 in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Lee and Anne Bowers Gier.
Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Robert Gibbs, on July 15, 1993, and her siblings, Cecile Johnson, Grace Cyone, Pearl Plaster, Amos Gier, Aloysius Gier and Virginia Stauffer.
Ruby and Bob were former owners of Rest-A-Y-L Restaurant and Bar in Newcomb, N.Y.
Susan J. "Susie" Smith, 89, of 635 Grant St., P.O. Box 1081 Saegertown, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville.
Susie was born in Johnsonburg on July 28, 1922, a daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (DiNardo) Marrone.
On Nov. 19, 1949 Susie married John S. "Jack"Â Smith, he survives.Â Residing in Ridgway from 1949 until 1974 when they moved to Kittanning where they lived until coming to Saegertown in 2006.
She was a member of St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, Saegertown.
Shirley (Ross) Gerg, 84, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 121 Parkway Rd., St. Marys, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 29, 1927 in Hicks Run, daughter of the late Patrick and Mildred Ford Ross.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1946. She served as the cafeteria manager at the Elk County Catholic High School from 1975 to 2001 and had been a co-owner of the Olympic Bar and Restaurant in St. Marys.
Iva A. Fay, 101, formerly of 244 Spruce St., Ridgway, died Tuesday evening, May 1, 2012, at Highland View Health Care in Brockway. She was born February 5, 1911 in Bedford, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Esther (Holt) Atkin. She married John A. Fay in December of 1940, he preceded her in death in 1972. She had resided in Ridgway for 76 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgway. Iva was very active in her church and the community.
Shirley Mae Nedza-McNulty, 63, of DuBois, died suddenly on Monday, April 30, 2012 at DRMC.
She was born May 2, 1948 in DuBois, daughter of Catherine (Narvey) Nedza and the late George Nedza.
She worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years and was one of the first paramedics in the area. Most recently, she served as funeral home supervisor for the Ubel Funeral Home in Johnsonburg, where she worked with her nephew Joseph M. Nedza since 2005, along with assisting her family at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield and The Leo Nedza Funeral Homes of DuBois and Sykesville.
Mary Theresa Viglione Popson, 79, of Highland View Health Care, Brockway, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 30, 2012, after an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Ridgway, the daughter of Joseph and Lena Caggeso Viglione. On Sept. 6, 1969, she married James L. Popson, he predeceased her on Sept. 3, 2003.
Jonathan H. Freeburg, 59, of Johnstown, died April 29, 2012 at home.Â
Hollaus R. "Hollie" Smith, 79, of Willow Street, Johnsonburg, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor after a brief illness.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1932 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Hollaus W. and Jennie (Wheeler) Smith.
He married Jane L. (Steudler) on Jan. 7, 1952 in Johnsonburg, she survives.
Theresa M. Bussoletti, 90, of 8 Depot St., Ridgway, died Sunday morning at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness. She was born May 27, 1921 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Domenic and Rita (Fiorentino) Dagustine. She married Eugene F. Bussoletti on Oct. 7, 1944 in St. Leo Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on July 26, 1998. She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She was a graduate of the Ridgway High School. Terry enjoyed her many friends and loved sharing her home with them. There was always coffee and good times there.
Richard C. Fannin, 69, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center.
He was born on April 19, 1943 in Ridgway, a son of the late Richard P. and Frances (Cover) Fannin.
Mr. Fannin had been most recently employed at the Tool Shed, Clearfield.Â Previously, he had retired as a submarine sailor from the U.S. Navy in 1987 after beginning his service in 1961.
He was a member of Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post #1785 and the American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6, Clearfield, and also a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.
