Thomas M. Grumley Sr., 91, of 204 Jefferson Ave., Ridgway, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 12 noon at Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Johnsonburg, the son of John and Elizabeth Miller Grumley. On July 26, 1947, he married Geraldine â€śJerryâ€ť M. Nelson, she survives. Mr. Grumley had been a Ridgway resident since 1957. He was a member of St. Leoâ€™s Catholic Church, the American Legion, a longtime member of the Johnsonburg Sportsmenâ€™s Club and a life member of the Johnsonburg V.F.W. Grumley-Tucci-Pavlina Post 6301.
Ronald C. Ecklund, 73, of 668 Washington Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 3, 1939 in Ridgway, son of the late Charles M. and Martha L. (Fischer) Ecklund. On Nov. 11, 1983, he married Ann Werner Ecklund, who survives.
Robert M. Zurfluh, age 90, of 501 Upper Front St., Ridgway, died Monday evening, April 16, 2012, at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 30, 1921 in Ridgway, son of the late Peter and Anna M. (Miller) Zurfluh. He had resided in Ridgway for many years and was a former Hartford, Conn. resident for 35 years.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was an active member, a past board member of the Ridgway Public Library, and a member of the Joey's Bakery coffee clutch. Bob always had a joke to tell and brought out the best in everyone.
Lavonia Marie Garber Kriegel, age 95, of Erie, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center.
She was born in Sedalia, Mo. on Oct. 27, 1916 a daughter of the late Jesse Weaver Garber and Gladys Irene Gimple Garber.
Lavonia graduated from Ridgway High School in Ridgway.
She was a classical pianist and she also loved to decorate. Lavonia was an avid reader and a wonderful cook.
Marko M. Bolitiski, 83, of 61 Railroad St., Daguscahonda, died Sunday morning, April 15, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 11, 1929 in Daguscahonda, a son of the late Joseph and Barbara Francis Bolitiski.
On July 3, 1954 in Oakland, Maryland, he married Mary Ellen Jordan Bolitiski, who survives.
James A. Shaver, M.D., died Friday, April 13, 2012, beloved husband of Kathleen R. Shaver; father of James A. Shaver, Jr., M.D. (Leigh Anne), Ellen Albers (Ken), and John Shaver; grandfather of James, Oscar, Henry and Bridget Shaver and Timmy and Auggie Albers; brother of the late John Henry Shaver.
Donald R. "Captain" Allegretto, 69, of 879 Rasselas Rd., Wilcox, died Friday morning, April 13, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1942 in Buffalo, N.Y., son of the late Raymond and Betty Sample Allegretto. On Aug. 5, 1967 in St. Ann's Church, Wilcox, he married Katherine "Kaki" Gelsick, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of Rasselas, having attended Wilcox and Johnsonburg schools. He was a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Army, serving overseas as an SP4 with Co. B, 166th Eng. Bn.
John Elliott Adkison, 57 of Â Strawberry, Ariz. died, March 16, 2012 at Mayo Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born on March 31, 1954 in Marlington, W. Va., son of the late Della Adkison. He is survived by his wife, Vandy Adkison; two stepchildren, Scott Darnell and Vandy Van Epps; and six grandchildren. Previous marriages blessed him with four sons, John Adkison Jr. of Ottumwa, Iowa, Bruce Adkison of Â Florida, Travis Adkison of Â Raleigh, N.C., and Trever Adkison of Erie, and three granddaughters and two grandsons.
Darrel R. Roof, 74, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of 235 Walnut St., Ridgway, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born May 25, 1937, in Ridgway, the son of the late Floyd and Vara Rhines Roof.
Mr. Roof was a lifelong Ridgway resident. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He was active in the Special Olympics and the Boy Scouts of America.
He was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Engeman and Jean Orlosky; and by a nephew, James Engeman.
Audrey E. Dwyer, age 90, of Penn Street, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 24, 1921 in Kane, daughter of the late Edward and Frances (Wold) Kranking. She married Daniel A. Dwyer on June 27, 1953; he preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1994.
A 1939 graduate of Johnsonburg High School, she worked at Indiantown Gap military base during WWII and also worked many years with the Ubel Fashion Shop, Furniture Store and Funeral Home.
