Richard H. "Dick" Farnsworth

Richard H. "Dick" Farnsworth, 71, of 811 Washington St., St. Marys, died at his home on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 following a battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 20, 1941 in New Millport, a son of the late Russell and Bertha Chittister Farnsworth.
On Feb. 4, 1967 in St. Mary's Church, he married Joan Hoffman Farnsworth, who survives.
Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been discharged in January of 1968. He made his career working at St. Marys Carbon and Stackpole Carbon Company. He also spent time as a truck driver and working at the All American Car Wash.

Anthony Thomas Vito

Anthony Thomas Vito, 91, of Levittown, passed away Sept. 28, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Langhorne.  
He attended Kane High School, graduating in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and after basic training was assigned to the Third Infantry Division. He participated in invasions in Africa, Sicily, Italy and Southern France. Anthony received the Bronze Star Medal and two Purple Hearts as well as Laurels from the French Government. During a brief visit to Rome he was granted an audience with the Pope.

Grace M. "Grayce" Uher

Grace M. "Grayce" Uher, 90, of Dunbar died on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at Highlands Hospital in Connellsville.
She was born on March 14, 1922 in Connellsville, daughter of the late John and Anna Goulosh Kendrish.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary societies. She retired from Pechins Foods (produce and meat departments).
Grayce was an avid cook and baker. A favorite pastime of hers was collecting angels.

Stephen B. "E.T." Palmer

Stephen B. "E.T." Palmer, 45, of 101 Fern Lane, Kersey, died Wednesday morning, October 31, 2012, at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport following a short illness.
He was born Nov. 2, 1966 in St. Marys, son of Donna Schreiber Palmer and the late Frederick Palmer.
Formerly of St. Marys, he resided in Kersey since 1990. He attended St. Marys Area High School and graduated from Jeff Tech, DuBois, as a machinist.
He was a member of Queen of the World Parish in St. Marys. He especially loved spending time with his children, camping, hunting and fishing, and driving four-wheelers and snowmobiles.

Edmund L. “Emmy” Moline

Edmund L. “Emmy” Moline, age 91, died Oct. 18, 2012 in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, David and Edna Moline, and sisters Stella, Rosie, and Kathy.
He is survived by his sister Peachy; his wife of 66 years Dorothy (Dot); his children, Jeanne (Joe) Scheuerman, E. Robert (Susan), Debra (Kevin Betts), and Dennis (Regina); grandchildren Matt (Jaki) Trombley, Stephanie (Mario) Tripp, Ryan Moline, Stacey Rae Moline, Andrew Moline, Michael Lungo, Cassidy Lungo, Brian Antes and Zachary Tripp; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

David A. Benson Sr.

David A. Benson Sr., 71, of 482 Silver Creek Rd., Johnsonburg, died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1940 in Johnsonburg, son to the late Arthur and Louise Polinski Benson.
On Aug. 2, 1963 he married Julia Kasmierski, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, having graduated from the Johnsonburg High School in 1958. He was employed by PennTech Papers in Johnsonburg for 40 years before retiring in 1998.
He was also a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Johnsonburg.

Floyd D. Beale

Floyd D. Beale, 89, died at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport. 
Floyd was born on Feb. 19, 1923 on the Harbison Farm in Buffalo Township, Butler County. He was the son of the late Ralph Edward Beale and Ethel Jane (Walters) Beale. He was the widower of Phyllis June (Brothers) Beale, who died in 1992. Floyd and Phyllis married on Nov. 19, 1947 in the Freeport Gospel Tabernacle in Freeport.

James Douglas “Doug” Hoffman

James Douglas “Doug” Hoffman, age 69, of Boiling Spring Lakes, N.C., died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Hoffman was born in Ridgway, son of the late Elizabeth Wolfe Hoffman and James A. Hoffman. He was the owner and operator of Hoffman Excavating Inc. since June 1970. He was a very passionate and honest man who truly cared about his customers. Mr. Hoffman enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing. He was a guest aboard a friend’s boat that was the winner of the 2002 U.S. King Mackerel Tournament in Southport, N.C. He was also an avid hunter and marksman.

Marilyn L. Silvers

Marilyn L. Silvers, 79, formerly of 130 N. 3rd St. and Eden Heights, passed away on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cuba Memorial Hospital in New York.
Mrs. Silvers was born April 23, 1933 in Ridgway, and was a daughter of the late Floyd and Beatrice Olson Laughner. On Dec. 1, 1961 she married Frank J. Silvers, who predeceased her on Jan. 4, 2002.

Rebecca J. Rhodes

Rebecca J. Rhodes, 57, of 406 North Broad St., Ridgway, died on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Life Care in Natrona Heights.
She was born Oct. 13, 1955, in Ridgway, the daughter of Max and Dorothy Amacher Dillon. On June 14, 1975 she married Lynn Rhodes, who survives.
Mrs. Rhodes was a lifelong Ridgway resident. She was a member of the Faith Church. She enjoyed camping, knitting, playing Farmville on the computer, Facebook and being with her grandchildren. Prior to her 2003 kidney transplant, she had been employed at Elk Haven Nursing Home, Community Nurses and was also a babysitter.
