Thomas J. Dulaney, 76, of Waynesburg, died at 1 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Southwest Regional Medical Center in Waynesburg.
He was born Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1936 in Waynesburg, a son of the late Fred Dulaney and Madge Wright Dulaney. With the exception of seven years in Ridgway, Mr. Dulaney spent his entire life in Greene County.
March 7th
Mary Lou Knapp DiNardo, 80, of 424 Water Street Extension, Johnsonburg, died early Thursday morning, March 7, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a brief illness.
She was born on May 7, 1932 in Johnstown, daughter of the late LaRue and Mildred Hunter Knapp.
She had been married to John Murphy II and the late George DiNardo.
March 5th
John F. Weidert, 73, of Burgettstown, died Monday, March 4, 2013, 10:50 p.m. in Weirton Medical Center.
He was born on March 1, 1940 in Ridgway, son of the late Francis Ottomar and Clara Cecilia Buhler Weidert.
Mr. Weidert was a 1958 graduate of Ridgway High School and a 1962 graduate of Pennsylvania State University, earning a degree in Forestry.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War Era.
March 4th
Nedra Marie Rooney, 95, of Erie, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Forestview Health Care Center at Springhill.
She was born Oct. 23, 1917 in Kane to the late Edward J. and Alice Retzer Powell. Nedra graduated from Wilcox High School in 1935 where she was salutatorian and received a BS in Education from Villa Maria College in 1960. Previously she had attended Lockhaven Teacher’s College (University) and the University of Alabama.
Donna L. Carlsson, 74, of Haycock Twp., Bucks County, formerly of Kane, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, March 3, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.
Born Nov. 10, 1938 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Fred and Edna Larson Wirth. She married the Rev. Dr. Andrew E. Carlsson, with whom she celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last August.
March 3rd
Mary J. Yankasky, age 96, of 16839 Boot Jack Rd., Ridgway, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Rouse Home in Youngsville following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 30, 1916 in St. Louis, Mo., daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Kotrick) Julock. She married John Yankasky on Oct. 10, 1936, he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2002.
She had resided in Ridgway since 1942 and was a member of the Nativity of the Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church in DuBois. She had been employed by Caldwell Decorators for 27 years.
Yuriko M. Shrefler, age 47, of 578 Rock St., died Saturday afternoon, March 2, 2013, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 8, 1965 in Tokyo, Japan, daughter of Mitsunobu and Fumiko (Tsutsumi) Matsuda. She married Mike Shrefler on Aug. 12, 1995, he survives. She had resided in Ridgway for the last 23 years.
March 1st
Greta A. Eckert, 79, of 351 N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, and formerly of Ridgway-Johnsonburg Road, Johnsonburg, died on Friday morning, March 1, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born March 13, 1933 in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth St. John Dorio.
On Oct. 6, 1962 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, she married the late Wilfred E. "Buck" Eckert Jr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2012.
February 28th
Clarence A. "Kike" Mowrey, 85, of 410 Clarion Rd., Johnsonburg, died early Thursday morning, Feb. 28, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a brief illness.
He was born on Sept. 24, 1927, in Johnsonburg, son of the late Byron and Lillian Anderson Mowrey.
On Dec. 23, 1950, he married Margaret M. Fedus, and she preceded him in death June 13, 1992.
February 26th
Charles M. "Chuck" O'Connor, 80, former St. Marys resident, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 in Silver Spring, Md. at Renaissance Gardens Care Facility at Riderwoods.
He was born in Ridgway on Aug. 8, 1932, the son of the late Charles E. and Catherine Klein O'Connor. He married Patricia McEwen on June 24, 1961 in Bradford at St. Francis of Assissi Church, with Fr. Carlton Richey officiating.
Chuck graduated from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1950. He worked a few years at the former Speer Carbon Co. before entering the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
