Dora M. Surra, 82, of 116 Zola Rd., Kersey, died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born June 6, 1928 in Coal Hollow, daughter of the late Antonio and Julia Gornati Cesa. On July 26, 1947, in the Guardian Angels Church in Coal Hollow, she married Leo J. Surra, who preceded her in death on March 31, 2000.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Kersey schools. She was a retired employee of the Riverside Market.
Mary Louise Yonkie, 81, of 23 Apollo Dr., Brockport, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Challenge, the daughter of the late Walter S. and Mary
G. Trumbull Smith.
On Sept. 29, 1951, she married Harry L. Yonkie, who preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 2003.
A Kersey resident for most of her life, she moved to Brockport, five years ago. She had been employed at the Fox Twp. Elementary School from 1973 until her retirement in 1996. Mrs. Yonkie enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family.
Helen B. Linder, 87, of 326 Bingham Rd., Ridgway, died Tuesday evening, March 15, 2011, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 12, 1923 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Barney and Josephine (Kolinoski) Piurkoski.
She married Paul R. Linder on Nov. 1, 1952, and he survives.
She had resided in Ridgway since 1952 and was a past member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Johnsonburg, and a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Ridgway. She had been employed by Sylvania in Emporium for over 20 years.
Darcy S. Schneider, 54, of 150 First Ave. Apt. B, Johnsonburg, died on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Shadyside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Sept. 23, 1956 in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Edward and Ann Shannon Robuck.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1976.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, American Legion Post 501 in Johnsonburg and the Johnsonburg Moose. She loved animals and rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals.
William R. Penfield Sr., 87, formerly of Ridgway and Kane, died Monday morning, March 14, 2011, at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Brockway, son of the late William J. and Dorothy (Woods) Penfield.
He married Erma Jean Griffith on Jan. 19, 1946. She preceded him in death on May 17, 1974.
Linda A. (Gordon) DeSalve, 56, of DeSalve Road, Penfield, died at her home on Saturday, March 12, 2011.
She was born April 22, 1954 in Philadelphia, daughter of the late William and Margaretta (Gill) Gordon. On July 15, 1972 she married Lon A. DeSalve Sr., who survives.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, she lived in Ridgway from 1969 through 1972, and spent the remainder of her life in Penfield. She was a graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1972.
Maude Helen Wilson, 73, of 78 Spring Brook Dr., Ridgway, died Wednesday evening, March 9, 2011 at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 19, 1937 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Theodore R. and Hazel A. (Sherman) Salberg.
She married Marshall E. Wilson on March 17, 1956, who survives.
Robert J. "Bobby" Rupprecht, 79, of Ridgway, died peacefully Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. Vincentâ€™s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn.
He was born in St. Marys, the son of the late Aloysius (Alois) and Mary Rupprecht. He married Sheila Rupprecht, who survives.
He lived many years in the greater Fairfield, Conn. area prior to moving back to Pennsylvania. He was a retired employee of Norwalk Powdered Metals.
Florence L. Steis, 88, of Miamisburg, Ohio, died Friday, March 4, 2011 at her residence under the care of Hospice of Dayton.
She was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Brandy Camp, the daughter of Gelindo and Julia Castina Benigni.
She was a former resident of Brandy Camp and Coraopolis.
Thomas Alvin Terwilliger, 82, of 19 Hiram St., Brookville, died Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Veterans Hospital in Oakland.
He was born December 5, 1928 in Cadogan Township, son of the late Homer and Mildred Bortz Terwilliger.
He had made his home with Judith Baumgratz for many years. She preceded him in death in 1997.
He was Methodist by faith and enjoyed hunting, camping and especially fishing as well as spending time with his family.
He had been employed at Stackpole Carbon as a die setter. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War.
