Barbara M. Dietz, 66, of DuBois, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Ms. Dietz was born Feb. 10, 1949 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Anthony and Frances (Polaski) Olewinski.
She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Johnsonburg. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and crocheting.
Ms. Dietz is survived by two brothers, Joe Olewinski and his wife Dorothy of Virginia, and Robert Olewinski of Pennsylvania; and a cousin, â€śLittle Sisâ€ť Cynthia Fink of Ridgway.
Elizabeth Jane Erickson, 65, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 after a gutsy battle with lung disease.
Betsy was born to Walter "Baldy" and Agnes Foster Bouse on Nov. 25, 1949, their fourth child. On Aug. 18, 1972, she married John Erickson of Johnsonburg and they resided in Ridgway all their married life.
Kathleen Ann Penfield, 63, of 236 Walnut St., Ridgway, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at Highland View Health Care in Brockway.
She was born March 13, 1951 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Herbert and Marion Mitchell Fannin. On April 28, 1973, she married William R. Penfield Jr., who survives.
She had lived in Ridgway all her life. She had been employed at St. Marys Carbon for 31 years. She was a graduate of Ridgway Area High School Class of 1970. Kathy enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and scrapbooking.
Sophie DeChano, 90, of 515 Cherry Ave., Ridgway, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Rasselas, daughter of the late Josef and Lottie Rose Cebulski Szymanski. She attended school in Instanter. She married Paul D. DeChano who preceded her in death Oct. 17, 1994. Mrs. DeChano was a Ridgway resident for 63 years. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and Ridgway C.D. of A.
Geraldine Helen Willow, 94, of Rose Street, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 13, 1920 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Frederic Marshall and Clara Bell (Zwald) Enterline.
On Sept. 16, 1939 in Ridgway, she married Chester LeRoy Willow. He preceded her in death March 12, 2003.
She was a graduate of Ridgway Area High School Class of 1939 and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Johnâ€™s Lutheran Church of Johnsonburg, a lifetime member of Central Hose Company Auxiliary and a â€śWorthy Matronâ€ť of the Order of Eastern Star.
Alvera Dezanet, 101, of Caledonia, and recently of Silver Creek Terrace and Elk Haven Nursing Home, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 4, 1913 in Byrnedale, daughter of the late Angelo and Giovanna (Trojan) Dezanet.
She worked at Sylvania of Emporium for 47 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1975. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force.
Joseph W. DeLullo Sr., 66 of Terra Cotta Road, Johnsonburg, died early Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at Penn Highlands Elk after an illness of 10 years.
He was born May 4, 1948 in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph P. and Erma (Matthews) DeLullo.
He married Josephine (Tomaski) on May 27, 1971.
Mr. DeLullo was a graduate of St. Marys High School. He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marines from 1966-1969. He worked as a die-setter for Metaldyne for 27 years retiring in 2005.
Leroy Paul Benson, 66, of 2130 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
He was born April 20, 1948, in Ridgway, son of the late Paul and Alice Woodall Benson. He married Lillian Poage, who survives. He was Episcopalian by faith. He had lived all of his life in Ridgway.
He had been employed by PennDOT for 33 years. He served in the U.S. Navy. Benny enjoyed car racing and tractor pulling.
James A. Curley Jr., 76, of 2857 10th St., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 2, 1938 in St. Marys, son of James A. Curley Sr. and Mary Martha Conneen Curley.
He married Carla Kesler on Dec. 27, 1961 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and she survives. He resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1956.
Mr. Curley graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1956. He attended St. Bonaventure University for one year and graduated from Akron University.
Erma R. Butterfuss, 87, of 103 Lovers Ln., Kersey, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 at her home.
She was born July 18, 1927 in Moyers, W. Va., daughter of the late Lester and Mary Alice Moyers Pitsenbarger. She had been a resident of Elk County since 1950.
She was a graduate of Blue Grass High School in Blue Grass, Va., Class of 1944, and as a member of the Cadet Nurses Corp from the Emergency Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., Class of 1948.
