JoAnn S. Gnan, 71, of 518 Hickory St., Ridgway, died early Sunday morning, June 1, 2014 at Penn Highlands DuBois following a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 24, 1943 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Emil F. and Nellie R. (Briggs) Streich.
She married Benjamin C. Gnan Jr. on Feb. 19, 1982, he survives.
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of the American Legion Post #208. She was a 1961 graduate of Ridgway High School. She was a longtime employee of Alpha Sintered Metals, retiring in 2008.
Mary H. Jacobs, 80, of 618 North Maple Ave., Ridgway, died Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 18, 1933 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Ben and Jennie (DeMucci) Marzella. She married William L. Jacobs on Feb. 12, 1955, and he survives.
She had resided in Ridgway all her life and was a 1953 graduate of St. Leo High School. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. Mary had been employed by Stackpole Carbon, the St. Marys Bakery, Cronk's Flowers and Fox's Pizza in Ridgway.
Jack A. Mecca, 64, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on May 22, 2014 after a long and courageous fight against cancer.
Born April 28, 1950 in Ridgway, he was the son of the late Betty J. (Mecca) Duffee and Charles Mecca. Jack was a 1968 graduate of Ridgway Area High School and completed his education at the Pittsburgh Aeronautical School of Technology.
Twyla C. Johnson, 86, of Willamson, N.Y. and Sewickley, died Monday, May 26, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Merribeth) Johnson, Lynn (Louis) Naugle, and Kent (Cindy) Johnson; her grandchildren, Brett, Zachary, Gregory, and Briel; her great-grandchildren, Blake and Brice; and loving nieces, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Johnson, and her beloved grandson, Nicholas Johnson.
No calling hours for Twyla C. Johnson will be held per her request. Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Robin J. Weitzel, 51, died on Monday, May 26, 2014.
Born on April 6, 1963 in Millington, Tenn., she was the daughter of Vera (Ray) Kohler of Bradford and Robert (Michaele) Yard of Seneca, S.C.
She was married to Jay Weitzel, he survives.
She had been employed as a computer specialist for Eyecare Professionals in Bradford. She had previously been employed at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. and at Cattaraugus County.
Mabel M. Bates, 101, of Kennedy Township, formerly of Sheraden, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 surrounded by family.
She was born Sept. 12, 1912 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie Steis; beloved wife of the late Thomas L.; loving mother of Tom, Vicki Bates, and the late Bonnie Robinson; survived by a sister, Josephine Fasenmyer; cherished grandmother of Christian Bates, Jody and Julie Robinson, and Ryan Severin; close friend of Richard Foster; and mother-in-law of Patrick Robinson and Susan Atallah. Mabel is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Richard E. "Lardy" Friedl, 84, of 104 West Theresia Rd., St. Marys, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following injuries suffered from a car accident.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1929, a son of the late Frank and Clara Zwack Friedl.
Linda E. Streich, 76, of 4381 Grant Rd., Ridgway, died Thursday morning at Highland View Health Care in Brockway.
She was born March 13, 1938 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Edward and Theresa (Buehler) Carlson.
She married Gary J. Streich Sr. on Sept. 5, 1959; he survives. She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of the Hallton Church.
Linda was a 1956 graduate of Ridgway High School and 1959 graduate of Clarion University. She had been employed by the Ridgway Area School District as a teacher for 10 years.
Bette â€śJeannineâ€ť Hefright, 81, of Water Street, Johnsonburg, died following a series of illnesses on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 while at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she had resided for the past five months.
Born Oct. 12, 1932 in Johnsonburg, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Gertrude (Blumquist) Speaker. Jeannine was the oldest of the three children.Â
Daniel Mark Titchner, 35, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his father's house.
He was born Nov. 23, 1978, and graduated from St. Marys Area High School.
