May 24th
Clyde "Punky" Nelson III, 33, of 427 Biddle St., passed away Thursday evening, May 23, 2013, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near the intersection of Route 66 and Route 948 in Highland Township.
Born June 15, 1979, in Kane, he was a son of Clyde and Joyce Robinson Nelson.
Mr. Nelson was employed by ITL on Montmorenci. He was a member of the Ridgway Loyal Order of the Moose and a former member of the Kane Moose #130.
Richard Marcel Smith, age 77, of Bridge Street, Johnsonburg, died suddenly Friday, May 24, 2013, at home.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg, with Pastor Stephen Fair.Â

Mary S. Butera, 87, of 326 Allenhurst Ave., Ridgway, passed away, Friday, May 17, 2013, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born in Platania, Italy, the daughter of Luigi and Pasqualina Butera, and sister of Frank M. Butera, who preceded her in death.

Tamara S. Johnson, 52, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Mount Joy Hospice Center. Born in York County, she was the daughter of Frank and Connie (Shilling) Hughes. She was married to George “Marty” Johnson of Quarryville for 23 years.
Tamara was a member of Clearfield United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, Tamara is survived by two sons: Joshua Johnson of Willow Street; and Justin Johnson of Quarryville. Also surviving is a sister, Cindy Vick.

Willard J. "Willy" Kennedy Jr., 57, of Jacksonville, N.C and formerly of Johnsonburg, died on May 6, 2013 due to an automobile accident.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1955 in Ridgway, the son of Willard J. "Buster" Kennedy, Sr. and Constance A. (Simchick) Kennedy.
Willy had been a life long resident of Johnsonburg until the last few years in which he had resided in North Carolina. A 1974 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School, he was also a member of the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. He was a proud member of AA and NA for more than 20 years.

Irene A. O'Rourke, 86, of 804 Rasselas Road, Wilcox, died on the morning of January 20, 2013, at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 6, 1926 in Wilcox, daughter of the late Edward and Alice Retzer Powell.
On June 14, 1945 in St. Ann's Church in Wilcox she married Calvin S. O'Rourke, and he survives.
She resided in Wilcox all her life and graduated from Wilcox High School in 1944. She was a member of St. Ann's Church, Wilcox. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Along with her husband, they are the owners of the "Ponderosa" in Wilcox.
Elizabeth Ann Seaman, 74, of Ridgway, formerly of Vinco, died April 29, 2013, in St. Marys.
She was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Owls Nest, daughter of Roy M. and Edna (Wickert) Neely. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Robert Dell Seaman, on Dec. 28, 2011; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by sons Jimmy (Diane) Seaman, Liverpool, Pa., and Jeffrey Seaman, Vinco; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Mary Rose Maletto, age 96, 203 East Ave., Johnsonburg, died Sunday evening, May 5, 2013, at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
She was born March 26, 1916, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Pasquale Nocito and Mariannina Perrone Nocito Condina.
On June 17, 1939, in Holy Rosary Church, she married Alfred J. Maletto Jr. who preceded her in death on June 7, 2010.

Sarah T. Nappe, 90. of 17 Penn Ave., Ridgway, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
She was born January 21, 1923, in Brockway, the daughter of the late Ben and Sara Bonavita Aquilino.
On June 7, 1947, she married Alfonso M. Nappe, he preceded her in death on July 6, 2009.
Mrs. Nappe was a long time Ridgway resident. She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church., C.D. of A. and the Contessa Lodge of the Sons of Italy. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and reading. She also enjoyed her family and friends, especially the extended family of Sam and Rose Delhunty.
Alfred N. “Al” Dempsey, 61, of 453 Toby Road, Kersey, died Wednesday evening, May 1, 2013, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born October 29, 1951 in Franklin, son of the late Alfred and Alice “Lettie Jean” Neal Dempsey.
On September 2, 1972 in the St. Mary’s Church in Reynoldsville, he married Bonnie J. Pegnetter, who survives.
Mr. Dempsey had been a resident of the area since 1975. He was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School, Class of 1971 and graduated from Vo Tech in Reynoldsville in 1971. He was an employee of SGL in St. Marys for 33 years.
