John Elliott Adkison, 57 of Â Strawberry, Ariz. died, March 16, 2012 at Mayo Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born on March 31, 1954 in Marlington, W. Va., son of the late Della Adkison. He is survived by his wife, Vandy Adkison; two stepchildren, Scott Darnell and Vandy Van Epps; and six grandchildren. Previous marriages blessed him with four sons, John Adkison Jr. of Ottumwa, Iowa, Bruce Adkison of Â Florida, Travis Adkison of Â Raleigh, N.C., and Trever Adkison of Erie, and three granddaughters and two grandsons.
Darrel R. Roof, 74, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of 235 Walnut St., Ridgway, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born May 25, 1937, in Ridgway, the son of the late Floyd and Vara Rhines Roof.
Mr. Roof was a lifelong Ridgway resident. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He was active in the Special Olympics and the Boy Scouts of America.
He was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Engeman and Jean Orlosky; and by a nephew, James Engeman.
Audrey E. Dwyer, age 90, of Penn Street, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 24, 1921 in Kane, daughter of the late Edward and Frances (Wold) Kranking. She married Daniel A. Dwyer on June 27, 1953; he preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1994.
A 1939 graduate of Johnsonburg High School, she worked at Indiantown Gap military base during WWII and also worked many years with the Ubel Fashion Shop, Furniture Store and Funeral Home.
Earl E. Robertson Jr., 88, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of Ridgway and Bethel Park, Pa., died on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 27, 1924 in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Earl E. and Martha G. Holiday Robertson Sr.
On March 17, 1948 in Pittsburgh, he married the late Victorine Walter Robertson, who preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 2010.
Janice J. Casolo, 76, of 502 Dewey St., Ridgway, died, Wednesday, April 5, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Ridgway, the daughter of Joseph and Kathryn Wilson Papa. She married Joseph M. Casolo, who predeceased her on Jan. 24, 2005.
Mrs. Casolo was a lifelong Ridgway resident. She was a member of St. Leoâ€™s Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Ridgway Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed reading, quilting, and being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retired from Quality Components after 38 years of service.
Dawn E. Baker, 49, of 106 Abbot Rd., St. Marys, died Wednesday, March 4, 2012 at her residence following an illness of the past several months.
She was born July 29, 1962 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Robert and Marion Stewert Hoffman.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1980. She was employed at MPP in St. Marys.
Eva M. Avery, age 99, formerly of 2678 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012, at Hartland of Mentor in Mentor, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 29, 1913, in Bells Landing, Clearfield County, daughter of the late J.J. and Della (Hoover) Ferringer. She married Leonard C. Avery on June 28, 1938, he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1981.
Noah R. DiNardo passed away suddenly at his residence in New Britain on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. He was 85.
Born in Johnsonburg, he was the son of the late Ralph and Serafina (Marrone) DiNardo. Noah was the loving husband of Mary Louise (Dattoli) DiNardo for 52 years and dedicated father of Paul DiNardo (Teresa) of Hillsborough, Calif. and Stephen DiNardo (Laura) of Plumsteadville. Also surviving are his siblings, Dominic A. DiNardo and Almerinda DiNardo Ewing and his beloved grandchildren Christopher, Alexander, Michael, Kristen, Justin and Katherine DiNardo.
Paul L. Schmiedel, 96, of Bisbee, Ariz., formerly of Momence, Ill. and Elmira, N.Y. passed from this life on March 30, 2012.
Ruth B. Weisenfluh, 86, of Marienville, died Tuesday morning, April 3, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Clarion.
Born Sept. 8, 1925 in Ridgway, she was the daughter of the late Clair O. and Elberta Penfield Raybuck.
She graduated in 1942 from Ridgway High School.
Mrs. Weisenfluh was a member of the Ridgway United Church of Christ.
Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed taking car rides.
She worked as a nurse in the Ridgeway area.
She married Donald Weisenfluh on December 28, 1945 in Ridgway, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 2003.
