March 8th
John L. Brendlinger, 78, of 764 Shelvey Summit Rd., Kersey, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Kindred Hospital in Beaver following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 1, 1934, in Clyde, son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Boring) Brendlinger. He married Martha M. Blessel Wonderly on Nov. 17, 1979. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2011.
He was a member of Maria Lutheran Church in Dagus Mines and a member of the Bells of St. Marys and the Ridgway Sportsmen's Club. He had been employed by Exotic Metals and retired from Carbon City Products.
Phyllis F. Bauer, 80, a resident at Ridgmont Assisted Living, Ridgway, and formerly of 126 Penn Rd., St. Marys, died on Thursday morning, March 8, 2012 at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 30, 1931 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Marion and Leona Fritz Ford.
On June 21, 1952 in St. Mary's Church, she married the late Clarence "Lefty" Bauer, who preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2009.
March 5th
Lorrayne Cuthbert Fogg, age 85, of Millersville, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mt. Joy.
Born in Laurel Springs, N.J., she was the daughter of the late William Earl Cuthbert and Verna Bressler Cuthbert.
She was a graduate of Ridgway High School and the former Indiana State Teacher’s College. She also took graduate courses at the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State, Westminster College at Princeton and Oxford University in England.
March 2nd
Victor J. "Yitter" Zawatski, 93, of Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys and formerly of Johnsonburg, died Thursday afternoon, March 1, 2012 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie following a short illness.
He was born Oct. 2, 1918 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Vincent and Leokadja Walczak Zawatski.
He married Gertrude Ann Votano on Aug. 2, 1942 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2002.
February 29th
John E. Darnell III, age 41, of 514 Cherry Ave., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, Feb. 29, 2012, at Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born May 23, 1970, in Ridgway, son of John E. Darnell Jr. and Shirley A. (Saline) Darnell.
He had resided in Ridgway for most of his life and was Protestant by faith. He was a graduate of the Elkins High School in Elkins, W. Va. He was a member of the American Legion Post 208, the VFW, and the Elks Club. He served in the U.S. Army and was a peacetime veteran. He had been employed at Metaldyne for 20 years.
Caroline M. McClain, 89, of 229 Grandview Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 at the Pinecrest Manor after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 14, 1922, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Bernard and Caroline Erich Wright.
On Jan. 13, 1940, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Jay P. McClain, who preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1994.
Mrs. McClain was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Sacred Heart School. She was a member of Queen of the World Church and enjoyed life, her family, and especially her grandchildren.
