Rickey Anthony Antonuccio, 55, of Beach Grove Rd., Ridgway, passed away, April 4, 2011, at the Hershey Medical Center. He was born Oct. 23, 1955, in Ridgway, the son of Nicholas P. Antonuccio, who survives and the late Edna L. Dilley Antonuccio. He is survived by his wife, Regina Singleton. He resided in Ridgway for most of his life. He attended Ridgway Area High School. He enjoyed billiards, construction, 4-wheeling, cards, story telling, being around kids, repairing and painting cars. He was an automotive mechanic for 40 years.
Charles J. Marconi, 79, of 120 Hemlock Rd., St. Marys, died Monday morning, April 11, 2011, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 24, 1932, in St. Marys, son of the late Zolferino and Mary Nart Marconi.
On Nov. 5, 1955, in the St. Mary's Church, he married Norma Salter, who survives.
James E. Clark Sr., 66, of 1585 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died early Sunday morning, April 10, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 15, 1944 in Ridgway, son of the late Robert A. and Margaret I. (McDonald) Clark.
He married Gale M. Moore on July 13, 1968, and she survives.
He resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a member of the Ridgway Moose Club, the V.F.W., and a former member and past president of the International Camping Club. He had attended Ridgway area schools.
Raymond LaVerne Allen, 83, of 42 School Street, East Kane, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at his residence.
Born Jan. 14, 1928, in Medix Run, he was a son of Walter Bliss and Bertha Edna Peters Allen.Â On Dec. 28, 1990, in Kane, he married Christy A. Milford, who survives.
Before his retirement, Mr. Allen had worked at several places, including Wilcox Railroad, Wilcox Tannery, Holgates and then Kane Manufacturing from which he retired.
He attended Wilcox Schools and also helped in the building of the Assembly of God Church in East Kane.
Deacon Sylvester F. "Cy" Simchick, 77, passed on to the Lord peacefully on April 6, 2011 in the arms of his loving wife of 57 years, Roselyn C. (Servidea) Simchick, in his Kenhorst residence. Born in Johnsonburg, he was the eldest son of the late Frank and Eleanor (Przybylski) Simchick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph; his sister, Lucy Myers; his son-in-law, Brian Grabus; daughter-in-law, Roberta (Lehmann) Simchick; and niece, Suzie Simchick.
John D. "Jack" Carlson, 88, of Sandersville, Ga. died Dec. 15, 2010. John was the son of the late John A. Carlson and the late Harriet M. Carlson of Ridgway. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Carlson, and a sister, Jill Fish. He was a decorated Navy Lieutenant during WWII. A graduate of the Newark College of Engineering, he was an engineer for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. Upon retirement, Jack and his wife Alice moved from North Caldwell, N.J. to Sandersville, Ga., where they bought a farm.
Thomas C. Launer, 57, of 5236 Ridgway-Johnsonburg Rd., Johnsonburg, died Sunday evening, April 3, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys.
He was born Oct. 2, 1953, in Ridgway, son of Kenneth E. and the late Naomi Huckabone Launer.
On Aug. 16, 1975 in Holy Rosary Church, he married Gail F. Franco, who survives.
He resided in Johnsonburg all his life. He graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1971 and Penn State University in 1977.
Viola K. Leathers, 87, died at the Latrobe Area Hospital on Thursday, March 31, 2011.
She was born July 7, 1923 in DuBois, the daughter of Samuel and Twila Stewart Thomas, the last of a family of eight children. She married Armand A. Leathers, who predeceased her on Feb. 18, 1996, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hilda C. Mearkle, 79, of Baltimore, Md. passed to her eternal reward Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Bayview Hospital in Baltimore.
Hilda was born Nov. 6, 1931 in Ridgway, daughter of Donald J. Alabran and Ellen I. (Ecklund).Â She was married forÂ several years to Bertram Mearkle.
Ms. Mearkle was a resident of Ridgway until 1940 when the family moved to Baltimore to get help for her. Hilda had cerebral palsy since birth. She received therapy through the Maryland League for Crippled Children and walked without assistance at 9 years of age.Â Hilda attended public schools through high school.
Florence S. Dietz, 88, of 7452 Ridgway-St. Marys Rd., Ridgway, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Ridgway, daughter of the late United and Etta Mae (Birchfield) States.
On July 21, 1951, she married Paul E. Dietz , who preceded her in death on April 10, 1999.
