December 13th
Victoria L. “Vicki” Caros, age 61, of Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 at Pinecrest Manor of St. Marys after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 7, 1949 in Brookville, daughter of James Clifford, deceased, and Jeanne (Fredericks) Clifford, who survives in Daguscahonda.
A homemaker and Catholic by faith, she loved animals and pets. She enjoyed volunteering her time to help neighbors and friends, and lived most of her life in the Ridgway and Johnsonburg area.
December 12th
Paul Richard Dearbeck, Sr., 85, of Irving Ave, Ridgway, died Dec. 6, 2010 at home.
He was born April 9, 1925 in Erie, son of the late Jay S. and Marjorie (Brown) Dearbeck. Paul was preceded in death by daughter, Judith L. Dearbeck; sisters, Irene Moses and Joan Dearbeck; and brother, Dale Dearbeck.
He was a WWII Veteran serving in England, North Africa, and Italy.
Paul is survived by his wife, Nancy (Long) Dearbeck; daughter, Linda Zukoski and fiancé, Jeff Haggerty of Brookville; and a step-daughter, Tanya Merritt and husband, Rick of Florida.
Adam Thomas Szymanski, 92, of 6874 Rasselas Rd., Wilcox, died on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Ed Redmond of Johnsonburg, following a short illness.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1918 in Scranton, son of Josef and Lottie Rose Szymanski.
He married Luella J. Fowler on January 18, 1941. She died on November 26, 2002.
He resided in the Rasselas area all of his life and attended school in Instanter and Wilcox.
December 9th
Gerald E. "Bud" Wonderling, age 77, of 101 North Mill Ave., Ridgway, died Thursday morning at Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys following a lengthy illness. He was born March 16, 1933 in Byrnedale, son of the late Jay and Winafred (Jury) Wonderling. He married Sarah E. Dush Plyler Wonderling on June 29, 1968, she survives.
December 7th
Ruth Marie Perryman Holtz, a former Ridgway resident, passed away in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 20, 2010, from cancer. He was born on March 23, 1921 to Harry Perryman and wife, Marie Lamb Perryman, in Shelbyville, Ill. She married Larry Holtz in 1944, with whom she reared two sons. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard, who died in childhood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, a World War II veteran of the Navy, and her younger son Gary Holtz of Ridgway, a Vietnam veteran. She will be buried with them in Arlington Cemetery.
John J. Marciniak, 68, of Vienna, Va., passed away on Nov. 24, 2010 at Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. He was born Feb. 13, 1942 in Johnsonburg, the son of Frank C. and Jennie F. Niedzwecki Marciniak. He had served in the U.S. Army. He was currently employed by Landmark Limousines.
He is survived by his finance, Charlotte “Charly” Wilson; two daughters, Kimberly Moore (Dan), Jennifer Russell (Brady); two grandchildren, Ashlynn and Jacob Moore; and by a sister, Mary Addeo (Joe) of Ridgway.
He was predeceased by his parents; an infant son, Michael; and by a brother, Francis.
December 2nd
Dormilee Ellen Feustel, age 78, born and raised in Ridgway, died Nov. 15, 2010, at 9:55 a.m. at Conestoga View in Lancaster, under Hospice Care.
She resided with her daughter, Cheryl Keener for many years in East Petersburg, until October 2010 after a terminal illness. She married John B. Feustel, he predeceased her on July 31, 1973. She was a member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Mountsville.
R. Wayne Black, 85, of Powers Ave., Johnsonburg, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at Elk Regional Health Center after a short illness.
He was born Dec. 17, 1924 in Johnsonburg, son of the late James and Leoda (Myers) Black.
He married Carol Rimer on April 26, 1974, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two nephews, David and Douglas Black.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Black Jr.
John G. Mattiuz, 67, of 105 Scotland St., Dagus Mines, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 1, 2010, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 17, 1943, in Ridgway, son of the late John M. and Mary G. Zuccolotto Mattiuz.
On Nov. 30, 1963, in the Holy Cross Church in Brandy Camp, he married Mary Jean Kline, who survives.
November 30th
Paul Joseph “Bogie” Biel, 62, of Old Kane Rd., Wilcox, died unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, during the course of one of his favorite hobbies.
He was born Dec. 13, 1947, in Ridgway, son Olga (Damier) Biel of Wilcox, and the late Vincent Biel.
On Oct. 14, 1972, he married Donna Zawatski, who survives.
