The Ridgway Borough Council on Monday voted 6-1 to turn over billing responsibilities for water, sewer and refuse to Schutz & Company, run by Jeff Schutz, a Ridgway accountant.
ST. MARYS â At 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 the Crystal Fire Department and St. Marys Ambulance were called to 643 South Michael Street in St. Marys for reports of a structure fire. The Fox Township Fire Department was called to assist at 7:26 p.m. Members of the Crystal Fire Department were reportedly called back to the scene at 11:24 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 for public service.
BENEZETTE â Nice weather on Saturday made for a good time for hundreds of individuals who descended upon the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette for the revival of the Pa. Great Outdoors Elk Expo after a hiatus of several years.

ERIE â A federal judge says a man who pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $422,000 from a northwestern Pennsylvania animal shelter and one of his private clients can be released from jail â but will be confined to his North Carolina home â until he's sentenced Oct. 8.

The Ridgway Area School Board accepted the retirement of Finance Manager Brent Rhoads in 2014 at the board's monthly school board meeting held Tuesday night in the Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
The retirement is effective on July 11, 2014.
BENEZETTE âÂ After a hiatus of several years the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Elk Expo will be making a return this weekend in time for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the reintroduction of elk in Pennsylvania. The expo will be held at the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette on Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18.
JOHNSONBURG â While the Domtar paper mill in Johnsonburg easily sustained the most damage during a recent fire, area fire departments also took several hits during the lengthy blaze battle.
