ST. MARYS - Organizers of the "Ride for a Dream" Equine Dice Run are hoping for a large turnout for their event taking place Saturday, Sept. 15 at the St. Marys Campowners located on Airport Road.
An auction, cash drawing, spaghetti dinner, pony rides, balloon launch and DJ are among the scheduled activities for the day.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Make-A-Wish of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia.

EMPORIUM â€“ FugitiveÂ Thomas Edward Smith, 58,Â of Emporium, wanted for the attempted abduction of a female bank executive, turned himself in to authorities Monday night, according to police.
The Emporium Borough Police Department reports that at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, they received a tip from a concerned citizen that fugitiveÂ Thomas Edward Smith, 58,Â of Emporium, had just entered the Allegany Pub, 500 E. Allegany Ave., Emporium.Â Emporium Borough Police and Emporium-based Pa. State Police surrounded the establishment.
Last night's lunar view was known as a "blue moon."
If you saw the moon last night, it looked big and beautiful, but not necessarily blue. Although certain atmospheric conditions can cause a moon to appear blue, it is rare. According to a popular definition, a blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month.
The first full moon last month occurred on Aug. 1.
New charges, including multiple drug offenses and illegal possession of firearms, have been filed against Francis Anthony Milliard, 54, of Ridgway, currently incarcerated on arson and related charges in connection with two residential fires in Elk County, as well as charges of attempted murder and assault stemming from Milliard's alleged beating of a Ridgway man.
WILCOX â€“ Bailey Pretak and friends will present â€śRelease the Butterflyâ€ť, a concert to benefit the Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Johnsonburg Area High School Auditorium.Â
The concert is free of charge, but a free-will offering will be taken and all proceeds go to the F.I.R.S.T. foundation to fund research and publicity.Â This weekendâ€™s concert will feature inspirational music by dancers and singers who will tell a story of those who have Ichthyosis.
The preliminary hearing for Francis Anthony Milliard, 54, of Ridgway, charged in connection with two area arsons as well as the attempted murder of a Ridgway man, resulted in those charges being upheld by District Judge George A. "Tony" King in Elk County Court on Wednesday.

Seven Elk County residents and one individual with local ties, all charged with offenses relating to the operation of a Jefferson County-based drug trafficking ring, waived their preliminary hearings in District Judge Mark Jacob's courtroom on Tuesday.
Watershed specialist Kim Bonfardine of the Elk County Conservation District updated officials on the status of the Elk County Monitoring Project during Monday night's regular meeting.
"Much time was spent this summer getting systems up and running and projecting data to the internet," Bonfardine said.
The monitoring project is designed to keep track of stream conditions in the wake of the Marcellus Shale drilling activity by measuring the temperature, flow and conductivity in each stream.
According to Bonfardine, seven of the 11 satellite telemetry systems are online and running.
