On Monday afternoon, a jury found Willis R. Jordan III, 34, of Johnsonburg, guilty of endangering the welfare of children.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ The Johnsonburg Borough Council heard from ARS Engineering Services senior engineer Ryan Miller concerning Johnsonburg's continued efforts toward flood control.
BENEZETTE â€“ The first ever Elk Country Multi-County Democratic picnic was celebrated Saturday afternoon at the Dudley Farm in Benezette.
The event, sponsored by the Elk County Democratic Committee, featured addresses from several state and federal candidates.

ST. MARYS â€“ Multiple charges have been filed against David J. Charles II, 22, of Benezette, who led police on a foot chase before being apprehended Tuesday.
The Ridgway Area School District Board of Directors approved several new additions to their staff during a special meeting held Thursday evening. Two additional special education teachers were approved following an executive session.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ A preliminary hearing was held Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge George A. King for an inmate of Elk County Prison charged with possession of contraband or controlled substances in the prison.
BROCKPORT â€“ The Horton Township Board of Supervisors has been busy drafting a new quality of life ordinance which has undergone some revisions as of the June meeting.
The proposed ordinance establishes "protection districts" which include the "wellhead and watershed protected areas in the township" and seeks to prohibit "certain land uses/activities in the protection districts" and impose "special requirements for all land uses/activities in protection districts," including oil and gas drilling outfits.
Ridgway's annual historic homes tour is back after a several year hiatus and is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 3. This year's tour, titled "Ivy and Elegance," will also feature several gardens along with five homes throughout Ridgway Borough.
The event is sponsored by the Ridgway Heritage Council with proceeds from the tour going to benefit the Main Street Beautification Program.
"Ivy and Elegance" tours will begin at 12 p.m. with groups departing every 15 minutes until 2 p.m.
ST. MARYS â€“ The City of St. Marys Police Department arrested David J. Charles II, 22, of Benezette, for resisting arrest and separately for aggravated assault as a result of an incident which occurred on Tuesday, July 8 at 2 p.m.
