PHARE funding benefits region

The PHARE fund appears to be gaining its footing as Marcellus Shale regions are seeing yearly allocations for local distribution.
In 2012, the base allocation for PHARE [Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement] was $2.5 million; for 2013 and beyond, the allocation has doubled.
The six-county region under the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission (Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter Counties) have seen nearly half a million dollars in allocations in the past two years.

Family displaced in Norwich Twp. fire

NORWICH TWP. – Corporal Greg Agosti, fire marshal for the Pennsylvania State Police, is investigating an early morning fire which broke out Jan. 22 at 90 White Hollow Rd. in Norwich Township, McKean County.
The fire, which broke out at roughly 7:20 a.m., took the life of a family dog, and displaced Nicole and Brent Leet, along with an 11-year-old female of Smethport.
The cause of the fire in still under investigation and no one was home at the time of the fire. Damage is estimated at approximately $200,000.
