In an effort to avoid duplication of services and to ensure that veterans indeed do not "fall through the cracks," the Elk County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a memorandum of understanding for supportive services for the "Veterans Families Program."

A Ridgway woman who pleaded guilty to withholding insurance payments intended for a local business that performed repair work on her home following a 2011 fire was sentenced in Elk County Court Monday.
A Ridgway man already sentenced to state prison for a rash of camp burglaries that occurred throughout the most remote corners of Elk, McKean and Cameron counties in 2010 and 2011 was sentenced to an additional 16 to 40 years in state prison in Elk County Court on Monday on charges of theft and firearms possession.

The three-day trial of Francis Anthony Milliard, 55, of Ridgway ended in Elk County Court Friday with the jury returning 'not guilty' verdicts on 18 felony counts of arson and related offenses filed against him in the wake of a 2008 fire at his 115 First Ave. property.
