A Johnsonburg man charged with converting his home into an indoor marijuana grow operation after police confiscated 638 plants from the residence was on trial in Elk County Court Friday with his defense hinging on the claim that the marijuana was only for his own personal use and not for sale.
Due to a new Pennsylvania law that took effect on Jan. 24, many electronic devices can no longer be disposed of in the trash.
When I checked the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Calendar of Events for the Pennsylvania Wilds just now, I counted 25 events, some as close as Parker Dam State Park and others farther away at Bald Eagle, Hills Creek or Leonard Harrison state parks. There are things like snowshoe-lacing workshops, a family ice-fishing clinic, the basics of ice hockey, and snowshoe basics. One park is having a program on The Great Backyard Bird Count, which is in February.

JOHNSONBURG - A Ridgway man charged with robbing a Johnsonburg bank at gunpoint was in Magisterial District Court on Wednesday where he waived his preliminary hearing on felony charges stemming from the Jan. 8 incident.
