The Ridgway YMCA "Shape the Future" capital campaign, "pool project," is one step closer to its $1.5 million goal following a substantial donation Wednesday afternoon from CNB Bank in Ridgway.
According to Ridgway YMCA Executive Director Mary Lynne Bellotti, this marks the first large donation the YMCA has received for the campaign.
"With the community's support I know that this project will become a reality for the community of Ridgway," Bellotti said.

Truck tire pull new event at the Elk County Fair

August 7, 2012

KERSEY – The Elk County Fair is featuring a new event this year, as a "street truck tire pull" event will debut at the fairgrounds in Kersey.
"I was at a fair in Albion [N.Y.] and people come off the streets with their pickup trucks and try to pull this weight behind them," said Merv Kemmer, fair manager.
In Albion, N.Y., the event was quite popular and Kemmer hopes to replicate that popularity in Kersey.
"They received a good turnout [in Albion]," Kemmer said. "We have large industrial tires [on the Al Dietz Memorial Track] and it's going to be a fun night to see how it works out."

Height issue on rides at Fair

August 7, 2012

KERSEY – A last-minute notification at the Elk County Fair will prevent some individuals from enjoying the rides on the fairgrounds.
According to Jamie Wolfe, grounds manager, children who are not at least 36 inches tall are unable to ride on the Midway Rides of Utica's equipment.
"It's all due to unforeseen circumstances and it's not the Fair's fault," Wolfe said. "The manufacturers of the rides told [Midway Rides of Utica] that their requirements and assessments of the rides say no riders less than 36 inches tall."
