Opinions vary on multiple sanctions against PSU

Monday morning's imposition of sanctions against Penn State by the NCAA has been a popular topic among area residents. From alumni to diehard and casual fans to those who never liked the team or its longtime coach, the late Joe Paterno, everyone seems to have an opinion regarding the fairness of the fine, postseason ban, vacated wins, and scholarship losses the school will now face.

Dickinson Mental Health Center relocation

With Dickinson Mental Health Center just days away from unveiling its new 28,200-square-foot facility located at 43 Servidea Drive along Route 219 in Ridgway Township, Dickinson CEO Jack Goga explained the motives and incentives behind the new $4.1 million facility.
Groundbreaking at the site took place in October 2011 and according to the DMHC website, the construction is ahead of schedule. As a result, DMHC programs to be housed within the new facility are scheduled to begin their relocations as soon as Aug. 1, with the process continuing through Aug. 9.

Milliards charged with multiple counts of arson

A joint investigation between the Pennsylvania State Police at the Ridgway barracks and the Ridgway Borough Police Department has resulted in the arrest of Francis "Tony" Milliard, 54, and Anthony Milliard, 28, both of Ridgway.
Francis Milliard was apprehended on felony arrest warrants for multiple counts of arson, criminal mischief, and recklessly endangering another person, charges related to a May 30 fire at the residence of Pauline Smith, 521 West Main St. in Ridgway Township.
Anthony Milliard was also charged as a co-defendant in the matter.
