Following a recommendation from the Water, Sewer, Refuse and Streets Committee, the Borough of Ridgway will move forward with a water line replacement project at the Laurel Mill Reservoir.
According to the committee's report, the upgrade will include replacing two 12-inch water mains from the reservoir to the Clarion River.
Environmental Manager Paul McCurdy discussed using one 18-inch line as an alternative to replacing the two lines to save money but said in the event of an emergency, the Borough of Ridgway could wind up without water if something happened to that main line.

The following statement was issued by the City of St. Marys Police Department and the Crystal Fire Department late Monday afternoon:
–
ST. MARYS - The St. Marys City Police and Crystal Fire Department recognize the concerns that the citizens have regarding the recent fires that have occurred. We want to assure the community that we are working very hard to resolve those investigations and are committed to doing all that we can while working with the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and other agencies to make that happen.
ST. MARYS – The results of a recent fundraiser to benefit families who take their children to the Cleft-Craniofacial Center at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh-UPMC left the planners smiling, and will help bring smiles to more children in western Pennsylvania.
"An Afternoon of Smiles and Sunshine," held on May 20 at The Red Fern in St. Marys, brought in funds to help children with cleft palates and other craniofacial conditions and their families with travel expenses and other associated costs while getting treatment.
