A missing kayaker on the Clarion River was found late Saturday night after being separated from his group earlier in the day.
Elkland Search and Rescue was requested by the Ridgway-based State Police to assist them with a missing male kayaker on the Clarion River, west of Ridgway at 10:50 p.m. Saturday. The individual became separated from his group and did not return as nighttime fell. The group called Elk County Emergency Services 911 Center requesting help for the missing individual.
As part of its new summer camp program, the Elk County Catholic School System is offering a plethora of camps ranging from sports, arts, language arts, instrumental music, liturgical and choral choirs to drama, science and geography.
The 18 different camps are open to all area students, including those visiting St. Marys for the summer. Camps are spread throughout the summer to allow interested students the opportunity to participate in multiple camps.
Since his run on NBC's "The Voice" ended last month, Phillip "Pip" Arnold, the 20-year-old singer from Marietta, Ga. and son of St. Marys native Jim Arnold, has been keeping busy working on his first album.
"[Releasing an] album is my number-one priority right now," Arnold said. "I want to get music out to [all my fans]."
He recently started a page on Kickstarter, a website that allows individuals to pledge money to help fund independent projects. According to Arnold, fans can find out more information about this endeavor on Twitter, Facebook, and his website, www.pipmusic.com.
