In response to a civil complaint filed Dec. 6 by Elk County Sheriff Jeffrey C. Krieg against the county's board of commissioners, Tom Wagner, county solicitor acting on behalf of the board, has filed a response regarding the issues and has introduced new matters in the case.
A hearing on Krieg's initial complaint will be held Friday, Dec. 14 at 1:30 p.m. in the main courtroom of the Elk County Courthouse.
On the evening of Jan. 2, 2011, an 89-year-old Johnsonburg man was home alone when two intruders forced their way into his home and held him to the ground while brandishing a knife and demanding money from him.
"We don't want to hurt you," one of the intruders allegedly told Thomas G. Zelechoski as he was pinned to the kitchen floor.
St. Leo Catholic School students held a dress rehearsal for their annual Christmas play in front of a large audience Wednesday morning in the social hall of the St. Leo Magnus Roman Catholic Church in downtown Ridgway.
This year's play, “The Christmas Shoe Tree,” was chosen in conjunction with the students' service project that focuses on providing shoes to the less fortunate.
BROCKPORT – The Horton Township Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the 2013 budget with no tax increase during their regular meeting Wednesday night.
"The taxes will stay the same," said Dennis Thompson, township secretary. "It's been 15 or so years since we've raised taxes."
The new budget allocates $292,570 for total expenses.
