BROCKPORT – Ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat illicit drug activity in the area have resulted in the recent arrest of a Brockport man charged with drug and weapons offenses following the execution of a federal search warrant at his home.

A year-long investigation of drug trafficking in Elk County spearheaded by the Ridgway Borough Police in conjunction with the Office of Attorney General's Municipal Drug Task Force has culminated in the arrests of nine county residents charged with various drug violations.

JOHNSONBURG - Two Johnsonburg men have been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl whom they picked up outside a slumber party at a St. Marys home.

New bypass opens to traffic

The Osterhout Street, State Route 1014, bypass in Ridgway was opened shortly after 2 p.m. Monday. Crews had been working since March to reconstruct and realign Osterhout Street in order to lessen truck traffic congestion in Ridgway Borough and easily access northbound state Route 219.

Council approves tentative budget with tax hike

Fire breaks out at Allegheny Coatings facility

An early Saturday afternoon fire damaged an Allegheny Coatings facility site along River Road in Ridgway.
The fire reportedly originated at 12:08 p.m. when an employee at ARC Metals, a neighboring industrial facility, observed heavy smoke coming from the Allegheny Coatings building.
The site, a 48-foot by 180-foot steel frame industrial building, is a secondary location and was positioned across the street from the main Allegheny Coatings facility.

None injured as fire destroys cab on tanker truck

NANSEN – No one was injured Friday morning when a fire destroyed the cab of a tanker truck on Route 66 near Nansen in Highland Township.
The tanker was loaded with 4,500 gallons of liquid wax, according to Bill Edinger, chief of the Highland Township Volunteer Fire Department.
He said the incident “could have been a lot worse” if the fire had spread to the tanker.

School district keeps taxes within index rate
