As of 7 p.m., polls are closed in a total of six states. Mitt Romney has won Indiana, a red state President Obama won by one point in 2008, as well as Kentucky, giving him 19 electoral votes so far.
Obama can claim victory so far in one state where the polls have closed, Vermont, for three electoral votes.
Polls have closed in Georgia and South Carolina as well, but results have yet to come in.

It's been a sunny, yet cool, day in Elk County and the hope is that the nice weather will encourage more voters to travel to the polls for today's general election. The county only had a 20.52 percent voter turnout in the primary election in April, with 4,141 out of 20,179 registered voters casting ballots. While there are 10,714 registered Democrats in the county compared to 7,436 registered Republicans, in the April election only 19.40 percent of Democrats voted compared to 27.73 percent of Republicans.
The polls close at 8 p.m., don't forget to vote.
Emotions ran high in Elk County Court Monday as the 21-year-old victim of a July 28 hit-and-run that left her in critical condition addressed the court prior to the sentencing of the man charged with the crime.
County taxpayers were on hand Monday morning during an Elk County Board of Commissioners meeting to question several aspects of the county's finances, including the distribution of Marcellus Shale impact fees.
KARTHAUS – The 2012 week-long elk season got under way Monday and 11 elk-- three bulls and eight cows-- had been brought to the elk check station located at the Pennsylvania Game Commission's maintenance building in Quehanna, Clearfield County, by 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
Nancy Jean Bodien, 36, of Ridgway, was in court Monday on felony charges.
