The Ridgway Ambulance hosted a First Responders program to better prepare high school students for a career in the medical field.
The program sprung from a grant written through the North Central Workforce Investment Board [NCWIB] by the Penn State Cooperative Extension 4-H program, Appalachian Arts Studio, Elk County Council on the Arts [ECCOTA] and the Ridgway Area School District.
Watershed specialist Kim Bonfardine has begun deploying data loggers into watersheds to gather baseline data for the Elk County Monitoring Project.
"At this time, five data loggers are deployed, with the sixth going in stream [today]," Bonfardine said during Monday night's Elk County Conservation District meeting.
The Ridgway YMCA recently held another successful Summer Camp by having a cookout last week at Bendigo State Park.
"We received a donation from the RHS [Ridgway High School] Alumni Association a couple months ago," said Mary Lynne Bellotti, executive director of the Ridgway YMCA, "and I knew exactly what I was going to do with the donation, give it back to the kids."
Each camper received a YMCA backpack with back to school supplies. The kids were excited to receive the backpacks and we were happy that the YMCA was able to give the backpacks and supplies to them. Â
