Susie M. Imbrogno, 86, of 522 Fourth Ave., Johnsonburg, died Friday morning, June 22, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a brief illness.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1926 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Rosario "Sam" and Rose Manno Mannella.
She married Michael A. Imbrogno on June 12, 1948 in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1986.
Mrs. Imbrogno resided in Johnsonburg her entire life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1945.
Evelyn M. Newquist, age 89, formerly of 6 West Cardott St., Ridgway, died Thursday morning, June 21, 2012, at Mesa Springs Nursing Home in Abilene, Texas. Â
She was born Jan. 10, 1923 in Ridgway daughter of the late William (Kelly) and Rose (Forster) Fleming. She married Herbert W. Newquist on Sept. 4, 1948, he preceded her in death on May 5, 2009. Â
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She had been employed by Speer Carbon for several years.
Ridgway boys basketball center Sam Roselli had some highlights in the Elkers' run to the state semifinal this past basketball season including a strong fourth quarter in the state quarterfinal against VisionQuest which led to a victory.
From what he might learn this summer with basketball, he may have more to come.
Roselli will be part of the Rising Stars of Clarion team which will be participating in the adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas from July 25-29, one of the premier high school summer tournaments in the country.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ The Johnsonburg Area School District hired three elementary teachers Thursday night during a special board of education meeting held at the high school library.
Daniele Carnessali was hired as an elementary teacher, masters step 4, at a salary of $44,200, effective the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
Cassie Kriegelwas hired as an elementary teacher, bachelors step 3, at a salary of $42,000, effective the start date of the 2012-2013 school year.

Theodore "Ted" Gapinski, 77, of 9510 Rocksprings St., San Antonio, Texas, died on Friday, June 15, 2012 at home following a brief illness.
Born on Aug. 7, 1934 in Johnsonburg, he was the son of the late John "Kicker" and Elizabeth "Bee" Gillen Gapinski.
On Oct. 29, 1960, he married Anne Guido, who survives.
Kathryn E. Martin, age 75, of 22 East Main St. Mt. Jewett, died Thursday morning, June 21, 2012, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a short illness.
While local officials are trying not to cause a panic with Ridgway residents, the fact remains the same: with two unexplained fires less than three weeks apart being deemed arson cases, the unease has set in.
"The two that we've had in three weeks, we have an issue," said Ridgway fire chief John Wygant. "I don't want to elaborate on it because I don't want to create a problem in the community, and I don't want to cause a panic or have people running, buying guns and shooting people. We can't have that.
JOHNSONBURG - The preliminary hearing in the case against Nancy Jean Bodien, 36, of Ridgway, charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, a felony of the third degree, was held Wednesday in Magisterial District Court in Johnsonburg, with Judge George "Tony" King presiding.
The charges against Bodien stem from her alleged failure to pay for services rendered in the restoration of her home following an Aug. 17, 2011 fire at the 45 Fremont Ave., Ridgway residence.
Geno Carobine, age 82, of 202 Taylor Ave., Ridgway, died Wednesday morning at his home.
He was born March 23, 1930, in Weedville, PA, son of the late Domenic and Josephine (Metallo) Carobine. He married Alice Marie Zucchelli on April 18, 1953, who preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2010. Geno resided in Ridgway for 59 years and was proprietor of Genoâ€™s Barber Shop. He was a graduate of the Weedville High School. He was a member of St. Leoâ€™s Catholic Church where he served as an usher and council member over the years, and was a Board Member of St. Leoâ€™s Cemetery Association.
