Additions to police, community building coming

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Borough Council held its regular monthly meeting Monday at 4 p.m. in the borough building to discuss additions and improvements that will be made to the police department and the community building.
The Johnsonburg Police Department will purchase a new police vehicle which was approved by the council during the meeting.

Continuing upgrades for community building

JONES TWP. – The Jones Township Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the community building to discuss ongoing projects, which include upgrades at the facility.
The community building recently underwent work to replace the floor in the gymnasium and a water heater in the building, and both projects have since been completed. More work is scheduled for the building in the future.

William Ira Livingston Sr.

William Ira Livingston Sr., 94, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at Flagler Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bunnell, Fla.
He was born May 4, 1920 in Clearfield, son of the late Lewis and Mary (Watson) Livingston.
On Aug. 24, 1942, he married Martha “Jane” (Law) Livingston who preceded him in death on April 1, 2014.

Charles J. Greene, 68, of 135 North Loop, Steamburg, N.Y., died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2014 at his home.
He was born July 2, 1946 in Erie, son of the late Adam and Delma Jimerson Greene.
Mr. Greene was employed as a project manager for the Seneca Construction Management Corporation.
He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Deer Clan.

Helen Johanna Imbrogno, 92, of 636 Second Ave., Johnsonburg, died Saturday morning, Sept. 6, 2014 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born March 7, 1922 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret Stebich.
On Sept. 25, 1954 in St. Mary's Church, St. Marys, she married Carl Imbrogno and he survives
She resided in Johnsonburg since her marriage. She lived her childhood in St. Marys with her grandparents Henry and Henrietta Finfinger.

St. Marys man ditches drugs at pizza shop

ST. MARYS – A St. Marys man faces multiple charges in an incident that occurred at a Brusselles Street pizza shop wherein the defendant allegedly attempted to leave drugs, drug paraphernalia and a firearm on the property in an attempt to elude police.
Joseph David Hoffman, 27, of 635 East Joseph Rd., is charged with one felony count of carrying a firearm without a license and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ridgway football opens with 2-0 start

Ridgway moved to 2-0 for the first time since the 2000 season with a 42-8 victory over Cameron County Friday night at Memorial Field in Ridgway.

Program to look at liability of bacteria laden spring

FOX TWP. – The Fox Township Supervisors unanimously agreed to participate in a partnership with Penn State University to investigate the potential liability associated with a roadside spring which has tested positive for two forms of bacteria.
As part of the agreement, the township would act as a client for Penn State law students who will provide free advice on any potential liability the township could face as a result of the contamination.
