BRADFORD â€” Area high school football fans got their last chance to see 2015 graduates on the field at Saturday nightâ€™s 42nd Annual Don Raabe Big 30 Classic on Bradford Highâ€™s Parkway Field. Pennsylvania scored the first points of the game on a safety and the final points on a touchdown by Kaneâ€™s John English, but New York scored all of the 44 points in between as the Empire State all-stars improved to 22-18-2 in the series with a 44-8 win.
The NRA National Silhouette Championships will be held at the Ridgway Rifle Club throughout this week. The smallbore competitions opened Sunday afternoon and will continue until Tuesday. The high power events start on Thursday and will run until Saturday at the Rifle Club's high power range. Some of the best and most accurate shooters in the world will be at this week-long showcase in competitive shooting. Admission is free to all events and action starts at around 9 a.m. each day. Action usually wraps up around 4 p.m. each day.
The Ridgway Rifle Club will once again host the NRA National Silhouette Championships this coming week at the Rifle Clubâ€™s smallbore and high power ranges.
The smallbore events will open on Sunday morning and the three-day competition will last until Tuesday. Action each day starts between 9 and 9:15 a.m. and lasts throughout the afternoon.
The high power events are scheduled to start on Thursday at around 9 a.m., that competition is scheduled to last until Saturday. There will be a smallbore warmup match on Saturday which is a club match.
To say that this has been a good year for softball in St. Marys would be an understatement.
Both high school teams had good seasons in the spring, and the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders won the PIAA Class A state title. Now, another local team is looking to join them as state champions, but this time it is the nine-and 10-year-old members of the St. Marys Minor League all-star softball team.
The team has been putting together an incredible run this summer and is currently undefeated.

The last one was in August 2012 and the next will not occur until 2018. If it does appear blue, it is possible and has happened, it will be becauseÂ the light is being filtered through air borne particles.
The St. Marys Minor League all-star softball team punched their ticket to the Minor League state championship game with a 3-1 victory over Morrisville in the final of the winners' bracket on Thursday evening at the Kessell Athletic Complex at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
So far in the tournament, St. Marys has outscored their opponents 28-2. They defeated Caln Township 11-1 in their opening game, and then beat Warrington 14-0 in the winners' bracket semifinals. Thursday's victory was the team's closest of the tournament.

BRADFORD â€“ With the start of their game two hours behind schedule, the St. Marys Minor League all-star softball team played just about as quick of a game as possible against Warrington, coming up with a 14-0 victory in four innings to advance to the final of the winners' bracket tonight in the Minor League State Tournament. The tournament is being held at the Kessel Athletic Complex at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
Kendall Young continued to be stellar in the circle, throwing a no-hitter and striking out nine of the 12 batters she faced.
