Adeline M. Knight, 94, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 139 Locust Rd., St. Marys, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 5, 1918 in Kersey, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Eckert Emmert.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1937. She was a former employee of the Market Basket for 27 years.
On Sept. 1, 1939, in the St. Boniface Church in Kersey, she married Othmar P. Knight, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1978.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal, Johnsonburg Borough Police Department and Johnsonburg Fire Department report investigating the origin and cause of a fire that occurred at 11:50 a.m. Friday at 503 Penn St. in the Borough of Johnsonburg.
The majority of deaths investigated by the county coroner's office in 2012 were attributed to natural causes, according to Elk County Coroner Michelle Muccio.Â
The Community Nurses, Inc., an affiliate of Elk Regional Health Systems, is hoping to inspire discussion and consideration of the issues surrounding end-of-life care options with the screening of a documentary film on the topic at 7 p.m. this Sunday, Feb. 24 at St. Leo's Social Hall in Ridgway. Another screening will be held Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Education Center at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys.
On Friday, carving will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at all locations. Sponsor booths will continue to offer merchandise at the Udarbe Business Towers [Masonic Temple]. In addition, there will be horse-drawn carriage rides offered starting at the Ridgway Welcome Center from 1-3 p.m. (weather permitting, donation). At 8 p.m., there will be a pyrotechnic display in the field behind the Lazy River Canoe along the Clarion River.
The Johnsonburg Ramettes gave up an early lead, but then used a strong second half to defeat the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders 39-32 in a District 9 Class A quarterfinal playoff game on Thursday evening at Elk County Catholic High School. The win guaranteed the Ramettes a spot in the PIAA Class A state playoffs and eliminated the Lady Crusaders.

ST. MARYS â€“ A St. Marys man has been charged with more than 300 counts of child pornography and related offenses after he allegedly shared illicit computer files online with members of the Pennsylvania State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Engineer Travis Long of Gwin Dobson & Foreman [GD&F] updated the Johnsonburg Municipal Authority on the status of the engineering services as outlined in a consent order and agreement proposed by the Department of Environmental Protection [DEP].
William E. "Bill" Edgar, 75, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the home of his son, Bill, in Corry. He had been in ill health for the past year.
Bill was born in Port Allegany on May 23, 1937, a son of Gordon and Signe Erickson Edgar, who preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Smethport High School where he played football. He worked for the Market Basket in both Smethport and Ridgway, where he spent most of his life. After 15 years with Market Basket, Bill retired from Keystone Carbon following 30 years of employment there.
