Ann E. Krise, 69, of 520 West Main St., Kersey, died Thursday morning, Oct. 4, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 13, 1943 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Dinsmore) Johnston.

Marry Ellen Logue

Marry Ellen Logue, 85, of 414 Second Ave., Johnsonburg, died Thursday morning, Oct. 4, 2012 at the residence of her daughter, Lynn "Piper" Scida, following a short illness.
She was born on July 29, 1927 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Francis and Catherine Notarianni Ferraino. On April 28, 1951 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, she married Allen L. Logue, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1996.

Son charged with setting fire to father's house

ST. MARYS - A 25-year-old St. Marys man has been charged with arson and other felony charges related to a fire at the 137 Lynch Rd. home of his father and stepmother that occurred in the early-morning hours of July 14.

JOHNSONBURG – A Johnsonburg man charged after authorities discovered live marijuana plants inside his residence following execution of a search warrant was granted a continuance of his preliminary hearing by District Judge George A. "Tony" King on Wednesday in order that the proceedings may be recorded as per the defendant's request.

Hearing continued for Highland Twp. supervisor charged with environmental violations

JOHNSONBURG - A Highland Township supervisor charged with environmental violations had his preliminary hearing in District Court 59-3-02 continued Wednesday as he has yet to obtain legal representation.
Charges were filed by the Attorney General's Office last week with District Judge George A. "Tony" King against Charles M. Vaughn Jr., 75, who currently serves as chairman of the Highland Township Board of Supervisors and who up until recently served as the state-certified operator of the township's sewage plant in James City.

Joseph M. Quattrone, 87, of 222 Spruce St., Ridgway, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 3, 2012 at his residence following an illness of the past 16 months.
He was born Sept. 10, 1925 in Ridgway, son of the late Frank and Thamisn (Ruberto) Quattrone. On June 11, 1949, he married Loretta R. Emmett, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2012.

Natalie M. "Ray Ray" Jordan

Natalie M. "Ray Ray" Jordan, 2, of 331 First Ave., Johnsonburg, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2012 at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident on Sept. 17, 2012.
She was born on Nov. 23, 2009 in Warren, the daughter of Willis Jordan III and the late Pauline Dilley, who preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2012.
She resided in Johnsonburg all of her life and was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg.

Joan M. Irwin passed away on June 27, 2012 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. She was born in Ridgway, graduated from Horton High School in Brockport and immediately was employed in the payroll department of the Elliot Company in Ridgway, where she worked for seven years. In 1961 she and her family moved to New Jersey where she was a church secretary for 34 years. After retirement she and her husband, now deceased, moved to Aiken, S.C. where she worked numerous part-time jobs. She was a member of St.

Position, name-change denied

The Elk County Salary Board shot down two motions Tuesday afternoon concerning requests from the county's sheriff's department.
Theresa Merritt, chief deputy of the sheriff department, requested the creation of a third full-time deputy position and a name-change for the "first deputy" position to "lieutenant," but both motions died for lack of a second and were denied.

Local man sentenced in methamphetamine lab bust

A local man charged with operating a methamphetamine lab out of a Johnsonburg home was sentenced Monday in Elk County Court to serve 5 to 10 years in state prison.
Justin Edward Greene, 26, of Johnsonburg, accepted a plea agreement and in turn pled guilty to a charge of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance.
