KERSEY â€“ Over 200 fifth grades students participated in Elk County Safety Day held Tuesday at the Elk County Fairgrounds in Kersey.

The Ridgway Elkers handed the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen a 10-2 loss Tuesday night at Berwind Park on SMA's Senior Night.
The Dutch seniors and their parents were recognized prior to the start of the varsity game.
The contest was tied at two going into the seventh inning. The Elkers came up with eight runs on five hits in the top half of the seventh inning to open a 10-2 lead.
"We had a rough first inning," said Ridgway coach Mark Morelli. "We haven't played in a week and we had a little rust to shake off."
A jury of 12 Elk County residents, ready to hear the case of a Ridgway man charged with growing marijuana at his home, were sent home after an 11th hour plea bargain and sentence were entered behind closed doors in Elk County Court Tuesday.
KERSEY â€“ According to police reports, on Monday morning a passerby in a remote, wooded area of Kersey found what authorities are calling a pipe bomb.
