Ridgway girls golf hosted an AML match Tuesday afternoon at Laurel Mill Golf Course.
Ridgway finished with a team score of 293. Katie Thompson led the Lady Elkers with a 67. Sarah Szczotka had a 74 and Sam Carobine finished with a 75. Shania Reitz carded a 77 for Ridgway.
The Elk County Solid Waste Authority has recently been notified of the closing of their current electronics recycling contractor, Eco International. The company plans to close its doors by the end of the year.
ST. MARYS â€“ On Tuesday morning Fr. Philip M. Oriole, executor of the estate of Monsignor John B. Hagerty, was on hand at Elk County Catholic High School to present a check in the amount of $120,000 to be used for tuition assistance and scholarships. While the check represents the bulk of the amount ECC will be receiving from the estate of Hagerty, a former headmaster at the school, Oriole noted that he will be returning later in the year once the estate is completely wrapped up to present an additional check.
Last year, one stroke separated the Elkers from the District 9 boys golf team championship.
This year, it was a lot more than one stroke separating Ridgway boys golf from the rest of the pack. The Elkers took home the team title with a total score of 317 Monday afternoon on the opening day of the District 9 boys golf championships held at The Pennhills Club in Bradford.
Jake Klawuhn finished at 77, T.J. Schlimm had a 78 and Josh Roselli carded an 80 for the Elkers.
Mitchell Gilmore finished with an 82 for Ridgway.
