The Ridgway Township Municipal Authority is preparing to begin a manhole rehabilitation project for several manholes with damage to the interior in the Montmorenci area.
According to Carl Gosnell, Works Superintendent for the authority, the project consists of repairs to 11 manholes that "require attention," spanning from the area between Rich's Farm Market and Fairmont Road.
B. Pauline McMillen, 87, of 764 JoJo Rd., Kane, died Friday afternoon, April 4, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Nov. 30, 1926 in Brookville, she was the daughter of Russell C. and Gladys G. Weirich Gilmore.Â On May 4, 1946 in Johnsonburg, she married Donald E. McMillen, who died in 1998.
Pauline worked at Stackpole in Kane for many years until it closed.Â She then worked in the deli at Quality Markets in Kane for several years.
Chester Paul Rutigliano, 90, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 in Del Rio, Texas.
He was born Aug. 19, 1923 in Ridgway, son of the late Paul and Micheline Rutigliano.
He was a resident of Del Rio since 1964.
BYRNEDALE â€“ Emergency responders battled a house fire late Friday night and into the early morning hours of Saturday at a house just off Log Cabin Lane in the area of 19850 Bennetts Valley Highway in Byrnedale.
Elk Company 3 (Fox Township) and Elk Company 5 (Jay Township) were dispatched to the fire at 11:18 p.m. along with Bennetts Valley Ambulance.
Elk Company 1 (Crystal Fire Department) and Elk Company 4 (Ridgway Fire Department) responded shortly after 11:50 p.m.
BRADFORD â€“ Charges against a Bradford doctor for the alleged inappropriate touching of two young married women in his medical office have been "bound over" to McKean County Court.
Bradford District Judge Dominic Cercone sent the two separate cases to county court Friday following back-to-back preliminary hearings. Combined, the two hearings lasted more than two hours.
Elk County President Judge Richard Masson listened to several omnibus pretrial motions on Thursday during a hearing for Michael J. Stephanic Jr., 45, of St. Marys, who is currently incarcerated in the Elk County Prison on charges he allegedly shot and killed June Talmadge, 48, during a Sept. 3 incident in the parking lot of Eastern Sintered Metals.
A Ridgway man was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge King Thursday morning with multiple felony counts of possession and dissemination of child pornography.
Police say Theodore Robert Rohr, 34, of Ridgway was found to be in possession of approximately 40 images of child pornography and one movie depicting child pornography. According to the police affidavit, Rohr's computer was seized during the execution of a search warrant at Rohr's apartment on Nov. 21, 2013.
The Ridgway Borough Council discussed several new updates to the borough water policy during a council work session held Thursday afternoon. The new updates will come into effect May 1 and include the elimination of shutoff notices from the billing process.
Billing dates will be changed to the 21st of each month, or the following Monday should the 21st fall on a weekend, approximately one week later in the month than the current water and refuse due date.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Johnsonburg track and field hosted Oswayo Valley and Port Allegany in a tri-meet Wednesday afternoon at Johnsonburg Area High School.
The Johnsonburg girls swept the meets. Johnsonburg won 113-29 over Oswayo Valley and 113-35 over Port Allegany.
BENEZETTE â€“ A Wilcox woman and a St. Marys man were arrested Tuesday afternoon on multiple charges, including felony charges of criminal conspiracy and manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to sell.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, police found approximately 1.5 ounces of marijuana, several glass smoking pipes, a scale and several glass pipes in a priority mail envelope during a search of a room at the Benezette Hotel that was occupied by Jeremiah Adam Dilley, 34, of St. Marys and Abby Marie O'Rourke, 29, of Wilcox.
