BRADFORD â€“ With the start of their game two hours behind schedule, the St. Marys Minor League all-star softball team played just about as quick of a game as possible against Warrington, coming up with a 14-0 victory in four innings to advance to the final of the winners' bracket tonight in the Minor League State Tournament. The tournament is being held at the Kessel Athletic Complex at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
Kendall Young continued to be stellar in the circle, throwing a no-hitter and striking out nine of the 12 batters she faced.
The NRA National Silhouette Championships return to the Ridgway Rifle Club next week. The smallbore competition begins next Sunday, Aug. 2 and runs through Tuesday, Aug. 4. The high power championships will then run from Thursday, Aug. 6 through Saturday, Aug. 8. Ridgway last hosted this event in 2013. Pictured is Kenneth M. BRADFORD â€“Â The St. Marys Minor League all-star softball team opened play in the Minor League State Tournament with an 11-1 five-inning walk-off win over Caln Township on Tuesday night in a game played under the lights at the Kessel Athletic Complex at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
St. Marys led all the way, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and adding to it in every inning but the third. They scored three runs in the second, four in the fourth, and three in the fifth.

Despite a five-game losing streak and a 4-5 record after the first nine games of the regular season, the Elkers turned it around to finish 16-7. They went on to earn a state playoff berth before being ousted in the second round.

For Ridgway Area High School graduate and current University of Pittsburgh baseball player Josh Mitchell, his summer was spent playing baseball with the Victoria HarbourCats of the West Coast League, a summer league for collegiate players.

inside a movie theatre in Lafayette, Louisiana.

ST. MARYS â€“ The man accused of pointing a gun at another individual at the Sheetz store in St. Marys on July 9 has waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will proceed directly to court.
Charles Allen Cheatle, 64, of 311 Pine St., St. Marys, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Mark S. Jacob today, but during his appearance, he waived his right to have the preliminary hearing.
Cheatle will now proceed to the court of common pleas to have his case heard before President Judge Richard A. Masson.
